Star Wars Republic Commando is a squad based first person shooter (sort of like Brothers In Arms) that takes place in the Star Wars universe and the time during the Clone Wars. You play as the commander of a team of clone troopers and you lead your group through 3 different areas, theres a mission in Genosis (where Star Wars Attack Of the Clones took place), there another one where you have to investigate an abandoned ship, and then the final mission you go the the Wookies homeworld to go and deal with some of the Wookies problems. This game borrows alot of elements from games like Metriod Prime, Halo, and Freedom Fighters. Its like Metriod Prime because you are in this suit of armor with a visor overlay that gives you valuable information and as you battle blood and other stuff can get splattered all over your visor, which is a really unique feature. The Halo in it is the recharable shields and the very powerful melee attacks for close encounters, and then the Freedom Fighters part is the squad commands which lets you move your men to place to place. They can do some neat stuff like snipe enemies, put demo charges on stuff, blow open doors or get health from health stations. One of the things that stands out in Star Wars Republic Commando is all the ways enemies can die, you can but them, shoot em in the head, shoot them in the chest, eliminate there legs, you can blow limbs off enemies or even snipe them from a distance. Probably the best thing about this game is the single player campaign, the pacing is almost flawless, it never really gets boring, and the level designs are fantastic. There never really is a dull moment in this game. This is only one of few games that kept me interested in the campaign from start to finish. One of the bad things about the campaign, is that it is pretty short. You can beat it in about 8 to 10 hours and the multiplayer could be much better. But anyways any shooter or action game fan should atleast try this game out, I'm a Star Wars fan and the last couple of movies havent really impressed me at all. But Star Wars Republic Commando impressed me but then I realize that this game had alot of potiential and could of been much better. But it still is a very good star wars game and ranks near Knights Of the Old Republic 2 as one of the best Star Wars games i've played in recent years.
