Not the best, Far from the worst.

Star Fox Assault is one of the most con fusing games I've ever played. it is very kiddy, but the game does nothing to explain a much of a plt, or explain much of what going on at all. it was put together rather sloppy and just isn't as fun as you would be hoping. the story mode of the game is nothing spectacular as you go from level to level, cut scene to cut scene, without any dialog that helps the story, or even anything to explain whats going on at all. very soon you will learn to hate the frog and want him to die. and the main characters like Slippy the frog and Fox. have lines and moments in the scenes better suited for krystal. the characters are introduced in the intro having certian roles, Leader, Pilot, Mechanic, and Psychic. this would help if the characters actually did anything to fulfill these roles. instead they do nothing but shoot an enemy or two and beg for you to get enemies off their back. if anything the character with the flying skills should be who you play as in the flying missions and the frog in the tank missions. the characters who "assist" you on the ground missions do nothing but shoot at enemies until you show up and kill them, then they just stand their 'till the end of the mission. some levels are ridiculously long but their are very few of them . you should be able to complete the game in one sitting in about 4 hours at most. the game takes off in the multi-player portion of the game. you will have tons of fun flying around during multi-player looking for upgrades to kill your friends even sooner. even though the multi-player is good it to has it's down sides. if you get blown up in a plane you are able to jump and receive some damage but not enough to kill you, so if your not shot down on the ground by the plane you can escape making that whole battle worthless. if you hate this don't worry you can always play a space battle or turn off the pilot so you can only fly or drive the tank. you will prefer either flying or driving. you will probably love flying the most since the tank has bad controls that you can never really get used to. the weapons in the game are nicely done, but they never give the ones you will need. the most you will find is a sniper rifle, grenades and sensor bombs and be better off just using you regular blaster. the graphics are not the best either because this was also put together sloppy and the levels seem to have been made as multiplayer levels and put into single player so don't expect the best their.
although the game was put together sloppy and quick. it was done with a sloppy and quickly put togetherness that will leave you somewhat satisfied laughing at how little thought they put into the game. it has a classic Star Fox style, and if you like the series you should get this game. I'm sure your confused after reading this review so I think you should rent the game firs and you will find yourself agreeing with this review.
