It's Sonic's glory days on your PS2. Living in the past isn't always bad!

I won't focus on reviewing the actual games that are on the disk, as they have their own reviews already. Instead, I'll just review the collection as a whole.

What's good:
You get 13 games available to right at the start, including all the classic Sonic side-scrollers available on the Genesis, which is really the reason you're picking this collection up anyway.
Among the 13 games are 6 games from the Gear Gear system, including Sonic Chaos; a great Sonic title.
The menu system is pretty easy to navigate.
The controls transfered over very cleanly.
Save states! You can save your game along the way. No more having to pause and leave the console running, just so you can eat.
You get bonus games outside of the realm of Sonic Branding like Comix Zone!

What could be better:
Although all the Sonic games are unlocked, the 5 other bonus games are not. The way you unlock them is by playing (or at least starting to play) the other games enough times. I thought this was a little lame.
Although all the originals games are intact, there really isn't anything new or unique. The biggest disappointment to this is the Game Gear graphics. It would have been appreciated if they upgraded the graphics to Genesis quality first, or at least did something to smooth the edges out a little bit.
Saving games takes FOREVER! I find it very slow.

Overall you get the great games you remembered, and were hoping to play again. Perfect for admirers of the 16-Bit era, but will likely lose some appeal to those who came into gaming later in life.

In the end, Sonic Mega Collection plus does what it was sent out to do; deliver classic Sonic fun.
