At long last, a review for this very hard, very beautiful, and very ambitious "Sonic" game.

For the longest time, I've heard various people say that out of all the original "Sonic" games that came out during the 16 bit era, "Sonic CD", (Sonic's sole outing for the Sega CD, and it's most successful selling title), was the BEST video game outing for the Hedgehog. Well, after years of waiting, I finally was able to play this game via its inclusion on the Nintendo Switch version of "Sonic Origins Plus". And now, I finally feel like I'm ready to put the matter to rest. Is the game very ambitious? Yes, it is. Is the game very beautiful? Often, yes; it is. Is the game the best "Sonic" game out there? I'd have to say, No. Don't get me wrong, the Time Travel gimmick within this game is definitely one of the most unique features to be found in ANY "Sonic the Hedgehog" game. The problem is, the TRICK to mastering it requires first passing an appropriate "Past" or "Future" sign (each of which can ONLY be used once in a time zone) than traveling at a consistently FAST speed for 30 seconds STRAIGHT without running into any object or enemy, or STOPPING for any reason whatsoever! If that wasn't hard enough, most of the time, most levels are seemingly DESIGNED to make achieving this as HARD as possible! It's not that the enemies or even the bosses are REALLY that hard to beat, they just tend to be designed to be as tricky to figure out how to beat as possible! And while the game is among some of the best looking 16 bit games out there, it's probably NOT a game that people with Epilepsy should play, as it has a LOT of flashing lights in it! However, if you DO want to play this game, you should DEFINITELY play the version found on "Sonic Origins Plus" for the Nintendo Switch. Not only does it let you have as MANY chances as you need (and trust me, you'll NEED a lot of chances to nail time-traveling in the past to destroy the time transporters and the optional Metal Sonic holograms), it also lets you retry the tricky special stages (as long as you have an available play coin) until you finally get a Time Stone. While it is possible to beat the game for a good ending by destroying all the transporters WITHOUT getting a single Time Stone, it's a LOT easier to destroy all the transporters while also getting all the Time Stones as soon as possible. By getting all of the Time Stones, every single subsequent zone makes it so you can automatically travel to the good future in the present! Plus, the ability to play as Knuckles, Tails, or even AMY in this version is just an added version! So, while this isn't the best "Sonic" game ever, it is STILL an ambitious, and well-made "Sonic" game that I highly recommend to practically all video game enthusiasts out there! Enough said, true believers!
