A souls game very loosely

User Rating: 6 | Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice PC

When you think of soulsgame the first thing that might come to mind is difficulty. sekiro has difficulty check.

maybe you think about the experience system how if you die once you lose your exp and have a chance to retrieve it or if you die before you get it back you lose them forever. sekiro sort of has its own twist on this but its close enough that well let it slide.

you might think of sparsely placed checkpoints or enormous bosses check and check.

however when you think of a souls like game with its weapon systems and different classes and approaches to gameplay,, yeah thats where sekiro fails, miserably.

this game eats its own replay-ability factor to nothingness because you are stuck with one sword and one base moveset the entire game.

it falls so flat when compared to a dark souls game because in dark souls you have so many different weapons that can completely change your play style and you can choose to play as a sorceror or with a mace and shield or focus on archery. theres so much replayability that its nearly endless.

in sekrio what are the reasons for replaying the game other than for new game plus or for trophies/achievements you missed the first time around??

it feels like a short sighted project to me. they never thought about people really playing the game more than one way and it feels cheapened.

now you can argue that the different prosthetic attachments count as different playstyles but hardly.

ill give it a 6 instead of a 5 because the grappling hook is cool for traversal and i had a lot of tense moments where a boss was charging at me and i got away at the last second with the grappling hook.

if this game were to have a sequel i would really like to see the grappling hook strengthened. it is cool but its not that impressive when i can only use it to interact with designated spaces. if they could implement it as a weapon where you could like swing it and then throw at an enemy to pull them to you or pull yourself to them then that would open up the combat alot more. maybe you could even pull weapons out of enemies hands. I know thats asking a lot , technology wise. but it would be alot cooler if you could use it freely like that.

just cause could do it . so why cant sekiro?
