RE6 is a genuinely frustrating game to play thanks to foolish game design from start to finish. It is as if the developers are trying to provoke the players. The game plays as thus: unskippable cutscene, QTE, forced slow walking, QTE, cheap death due to QTE, repeat unskippable cutscene and QTEs, finally a bit of corridor shooting, a zombie inexplicably jumps at you forcing a QTE, a QTE-laden chase scene, and finally a confusing boss fight with some weird gimmick.

It's so unfortunate because RE6 has such quality production values. The characters, animations, environments, audio, and voice acting are quality. The RE artists did a great job; the RE game designers ruined nearly everything. There are some good ideas like trying to tell a meta-story covering multiple characters. Then again I'm reminded of the rhetorical question: would you rather play a simple game that is fun or an ambitious game that sucks?

Despite its bursts of creativity and glimmers of greatness RE6 is an abomination. It wins the award for most lavishly produced piece of gaming misery ever made. It is genuinely frustrating to play. I forced myself to finish RE6 just because I wanted to see what happened to Chris and Leon for old time's sake. But it wasn't fun at all.

RE6 is like being invited over to dinner only to be mocked and insulted. You just don't expect it, which makes it hurt so much more. RE4 was so solid, as was RE5 despite its foibles. RE6 is simply an epic fail, period. Hence, 5/10 is too low since that denotes "mediocre, meh". No, RE6 inspires true hatred toward it and therefore fully earns its 3/10 rating.
