@uprentiss One other thing, The Deus Ex game is only a couple years old. That is not really very long ago at all. The technology these games are on has been going a long time, and so you can find many games these days which are several years old but are still very fun to play.

Some other titles worth taking a look at -

Dark Souls (very good but difficult single player fantasy RPG)

Metro Last Light (another single player title focusing on a post-apocalyptic setting)

Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas (these games may swallow your soul for several weeks, so be careful!)

Dishonored (reminiscent of the Thief series, this game is all about stealth and assassination)

@uprentiss @zenstrata Deus Ex Human Revolution is easily one of the best games to come out in the last 5 years. It is quite lengthy but the storyline is very well done and the environments are unique and fun to explore. It should keep you interested all the way through.

The game is really an RPG but the combat is done in real-time. The game gives you multiple ways to develop your character and influence the storyline as you play and has several different endings based on what choices you make. Your choices even influence how the story progresses. There is a main storyline of course, but there are also many completely optional side quests which are a lot of fun in themselves.

It is a completely single player experience however, so do not go in expecting multiplayer of any kind. But the game does not need it, I would strongly suggest taking a look if you have some time to fill.

It is available on STEAM discounted to 20$ these days. And is well worth the price.

@uprentiss @zenstrata Actually Deus Ex Human Revolution had a surprisingly bug-free release. At least I never really ran into any problems with it. Of course it was not truly an 'open world' title.

It had large hub sections which could be explored and these sections would move you into individual mission areas, then return you to the hub after finishing the missions. The hub areas also had shorter missions that could be done purely inside of them, and also had things to explore and find.

But yeah, I ran into quite a few annoying bugs and stuff that was just plain frustrating in GTA 5. This does not mean I think it was a bad game, just not as good as several others which have come out in the last few years. (one of those being the Deus Ex I mentioned).

I was also frustrated with GTA 5 missions for forcing me into a mission specific vehicle when I had a much better and upgraded car (which I had driven to the mission start point) sitting right next to it. But the game just forces you to take certain things, not because of any real plot or story reason, but just because if you don't take the car the game wants, you auto-fail the mission.

On top of that, sometimes mission specific characters would just bug out completely, getting stuck in level geometry and prevent you from being able to complete the mission.

I had to kill myself several times and replay mission segments just to fix these sorts of bugs in GTA 5.

Although this is a different game type, I would say Dues Ex Human Revolution is simply a better game.

The plot line in Deus Ex is amazing, the world is well crafted, fun to explore, and enjoyable to travel through. It has a much better character customization and skill system, along with a better combat and stealth system. Weapon options and customization is much more enjoyable. It also lets the player make choices and influence the story of the game with those choices.

That latest Deus Ex makes you want to finish the game, whereas in GTA 5, I found myself becoming bored and tired as I played it. Driving endlessly around the city looking for specific cars gets pretty old after a while. And the vanishing vehical bug is a major pain in the rear as you spend hundreds of thousands on car upgrades just to have the money go up in smoke as vehicles randomly disappear from the game entirely.

@TheZeroPercent best selling does not mean best. GTA 5 was pretty fun. But I would rate other games higher. Especially considering the annoying bugs GTA 5 had on release.

@Zero5000X It is already there in the form of Trevor. And I enjoyed the latest saints row quite a bit. I think I enjoyed it more than GTA 5 actually...

I have been saying since day 1 how Blizzard screwed up Diablo 3. This is a big part of that. The auction house was a blatant money grab by Blizzard, they were trying to turn Diablo into their new cash cow. It turned out they basically wrecked the game instead. The console version is what the PC version should have been from the start. It is sad that PC Diablo fans were terribly abused by Blizzard. At least they are finally moving in the right direction here. Too bad it took them years to make this change.

Danny, I do not think it is the arguing that is the problem. It is the tone that the arguments are taking. I think you are also onto something with the live-fire being part of the issue. Comments do tend to be much more random and pointless than they used to be, and I suspect that real-time comments making things more like a chat-room is partially to blame.

Watch in awe and wonder! As our hero laboriously climbs ladders, slowly walks through tiny hallways, and carefully breaks every piece of pottery in sight!

The previous poster is spot on. The game seems a tad slow moving at this stage. Of course it is early development and still has a long ways to go. From this demo it seems to be leaning toward a demons souls style of play, carefully crawling through dungeons. I heard this was a spiritual successor to Dragon's Dogma, but from this video, I am having a hard time seeing that. Dragon's Dogma had really amazing combat. In comparison this seems slow and clunky. We will have to wait and see.
