Well who would have guessed?! Its two hours after the official Beta countdown finished, and still no Beta... Bungie released the following: "Folks are reporting problems downloading the Halo 3 Beta via Crackdown this morning. We have alerted the appropriate Live authorities and they are taking care of the problem as we speak. More news as it comes in." The Bungie forums are going nuts, people called in sick to work, skipped school and bypassed sleep for this Beta, and their anger is showing, anger that is growing with every second that ticks by with no Beta, How could Bungie and MS not see this coming?. I'm doing OK myself, what I do find annoying is that the people getting screwed are are the ones that actually forked over $60 bones to get Crackdown. Lets say the beta gets delayed for just one day... Would Bungie HQ still be standing in the morning? :P EDIT: The Bungie frontpage states : "We're happy to finally announce that the issues being faced with the Halo 3 beta and Crackdown will be resolved shortly. The Microsoft team has found a solution and it's undergoing final testing now. Assuming the test pass goes according to plan, the fix will come in the form of a Crackdown title update within the next three to six hours. " SWEEEET!
The 360 version by far, for the previously stated reasons, but also for it community aspects. Online and Friend leaderboards are essential, the PS2 version does not provide that. I can almost guarantee that the 80s tracks will make it to the 360 eventually if not simultaneously, 360 owners have shown over and over that they throw their money to anything on their system, and developers love that. GHII just simply has a future with the 360, owning 2 guitars is awesome, and if you buy GHII and are planning on owning GHIII then you better get it for the 360, otherwise you would have a useless guitar laying around once GHIII hits.
130,000 units sold... I know I'm not the biggest Sony supporter, but logic, not preference tells me that is a ridiculously low number of PS3s sold. We all see now that Sony has known about this for a while, we've all heard about the job cuts, hell the president of Sony himself said this week they are "Re-examining the PS3 budgeting process" and lets not forget the phasing out of the 20GB PS3. I would love to tell you all what's about to take place in the coming months, but frankly all I know is that things are going to get crazy. You get outsold by the GBA once you make damn sure it doesn't happen again. It happened again and the stakes are too high for Sony just to lay down. The next couple of months should be interesting, I'm going to get some popcorn and enjoy the ride... 199,000 360s sold, very sluggish in this stage of the game. Some of you have noted this, I'll state it again, 360 owners are freaks, and I have my own theory on them, since I am one myself. I believe the 360 launching early was a great move, because it grabbed alot of the "Gotta have it now!" demographic, many PS2 owners like myself lined up on day one to get a 360 thinking to ourselves "Why not, its the newest console around, and my 5 year old PS2 only plays the games it wants to, besides, I'll have enough money saved up to enjoy the PS3 and all those great exclusives when they come out next year" Hmmm I was so naive back then... Turns out a year goes by mighty quickly, and the PS3 money I've been meaning to save has instead gone towards 360 games, alot. I'm hooked on these achievements and alot of those "exclusives" are coming to 360, plus Nintendo is so cute... 508,000 DS's and 259,000 Wiis, that's it? :P Nintendo just can't make Wii's fast enough, and its because of Nintendo's broad appeal and affordability, and yes, their franchises aren't bad either. Developers are noticing, and believe me the games will come, and its up to them to appeal to all the casuals who are purchasing this system, yes the dreaded "C" word, but its true. I should film an experiment, every casual and non-gamer I show the Wii to goes gaga for it, all it takes is 5 mins creating them a Mii and 10 frames of bowling and they're sold. The DS speaks for it self, I'm buying 2 for my kids this xmas, and my wife wants one too, enough said. Lastly I'll end with the future: Forza 2, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Mario Party 8, RE 4 Wii, Umbrella Chronicles, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma to name a few, this will not be a quiet summer, at this pace we'll need earplugs when fall arrives.
