After years of not being part of this community, I felt it needed to be done.

I took my sweet slim over to the inlaws sweet 1080p TV for some awesome Wipe Out HD (I only have 720p / 1080i TVs at home). When I got back home I realized I hadn't changed the display settings back to 720p. I connect to my TVs via HDMI to DVI connector, and get no image, but Ive also tried hooking it up with the regular composite cables and still nothing. Anybody else ever run into this problem? Any other way to fix it other than going back to the inlaws or buying a 1080p TV?

"Go ahead and have a seat" I've come to write this post as a way to open a discussion, you see... I really can't talk about this openly with my co-workers, so what better place than here to open the flood gates on a topic I certainly never thought about before. Sexual predation has become so common place in our society that it essentially is a punch line, an afterthought, another sad symptom of our decaying society. But when this subject rears its ugly head into the workplace, it really makes you think about it in ways that Dateline's hilarious "To Catch a Predator" series doesn't. So if you haven't figured it out by now, basically someone I know of was recently arrested on possesion of child pornography. Pretty serious stuff, and as I write this I know the sensitivity and seriousness of the matter, so please do not mistake this for a "work gossip" type of post, in all actuality there are a few quite interesting twists to this story that merit discussion. One fact that makes this case especially disturbing is that the accused is a teacher. It is absolutely stunning the amount of teachers that are arrested on these type of cases, especially here where I live in Florida. These people obviously seek professions with easy access to their prey, there ought to be a better process to prevent these people from getting into our schools, churches, athletics, and ...Xbox Live? The accused, who from now on we'll refer to as FROMHELL34677 is an avid gamer and this name also happens to be his gamertag. I've done some research, aside from restricting communications and parental locking accounts, there really isn't anything stopping the thousands of FROMHELL34677s outhere from signing on to XBL and play anonimously... Should there be one? I'm sort of conflicted, in one hand I definitely would like my online gaming to be predator free, but on the other I do not want XBL to become a gestapo state. For now all I can do is inform you, the gaming public, and also provide you with a link to this story (http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=3d140d02-829a-430c-9ba8-0046177dd49c) for dramatic effect. I would also like to encourage all of you to file an XBL complaint under Profile, there is no way to avoid the player unless you've already played with him, but we can atleast get XBL to take a look at his profile.

How in the world do you launch it? I know it sounds n00bish, but I just can't figure it out. The game loads automatically and I can't find anything on the pause menu... I would read the instructions but they're in my room and the wife's asleep. Quick! Who wants to be first at making me feel like a total idiot?

Hey guys, long time no see :) I don't know if this has happened to anyone, or maybe I'm being a total n00b, but my mind just got freaking blown! Let me give you a little bit of a backstory. My 5 year old daughter just recently started playing Animal Crossing on her DS... extensively, she doesn't know how to read entirely but she knows enough to get around and start changing her outfits, writing letters and decorating her place. Lets just say she's logged in a couple of hours... when suddenly she made a grave mistake... she reset without saving, and has been at war with Resetti for the last 24 hours... to the point where she now hums that insesant jingle. So she's off to school today, my wife and son are at the gym and its prime time to log in some SSBB time, I'm making my way down the list in Classic mode with Samus when suddenly: That little weasel was in my SSBB calling me a reseter, I couldn't believe it.... I look to my right and there was my daughters pink DS in sleep mode... Unbelieveable right? So he proceeds to introduce himself and I accidentally win the match without getting to hear what he had to say. Has this ever happened to anyone? Like I said, I'm way geeked about this and maybe I shouldn't be, but it definitely ranks as one of my personal best easter eggs!

[QUOTE="zayas_81"][QUOTE="Grammaton-Cleric"]

[QUOTE="zayas_81"]Agreed Shame us, the general malaise shown by PS3 and PSP owners is quite a mystery, lord knows Sony fans are as passionate as they come, How come they're not buying any games? My only theory is that the biggest advantage the 360 had by launching first was not the fact that it had a1 year head start, but the fact that by launching a year early, the 360 captured all the crazy "Technosexuals" outthere who have to get all the latest and greatest games, regardless of cost. These guys ended up getting hooked on achievements, and while they have all the income in the world and probably also own a PS3 and a Wii, they buy all their multi plat games for the 360. Crazy theory, but atleast it explains the crazy attach rate for the 360... It still doesn't explain why PS3 exclusives aren't selling...Grammaton-Cleric

I own both (and the Wii) and achievements have nothing to do with my decision to buy third party games on the XB360. The fact is that almost every multiplatform game has looked and played better on the XB360. Period.

The attach for the XB360 is high because the system is literally swimming with quality software. No real mystery.

I absolutely agree, the 360's attach ratio has got more to do with its excellent library than anything else, however I have to disagree with graphics having more of an impact than achievements. I know they are not for everyone, but you have to admit that a large sector of gamers are totally addicted to them, and that being so achievements do influence a lot of people's buying when it comes to which multi plat game to buy. Besides, the graphical differences are so marginal, graphical comparisons are mainly red meat for fanboys. In the end the reason for the 360's insane attach ratio is probably a combination of passionate base, great library, achievements and lets not forget much better online...

It's not merely graphics though; the PS3 versions of many of these games have some serious performance issues like lower framerates and excessive load times. I do agree that achievements play a part in all of this but the PS3 versions of some of these games really have been considerably worse than the XB360 versions. The Orange Box is a great example of this.

If we're being truly objective about this (Which I doubt) then we would also have to mention the reason for all these "subpar" PS3 versions is the fact that developers are creating these game for the 360, then porting them to the PS3, I don't even own a PS3, but you can't seriously tell me the reason that OB is glitchy on the PS3 is because of the hardware, Can you? Valve didn't even do the port themselves, some EA brits did. I would refer you to Burnout Paradise as a prime example of this, when a game is made on one system and then ported to another the latter will always be "subpar" But in the end I'm just blowing hot air.... Lets face it, the PS3 either "teh RuleZ" or is a "giant flopzorsz" W00t.
