[QUOTE="zayas_81"][QUOTE="Grammaton-Cleric"][QUOTE="zayas_81"]Agreed Shame us, the general malaise shown by PS3 and PSP owners is quite a mystery, lord knows Sony fans are as passionate as they come, How come they're not buying any games? My only theory is that the biggest advantage the 360 had by launching first was not the fact that it had a1 year head start, but the fact that by launching a year early, the 360 captured all the crazy "Technosexuals" outthere who have to get all the latest and greatest games, regardless of cost. These guys ended up getting hooked on achievements, and while they have all the income in the world and probably also own a PS3 and a Wii, they buy all their multi plat games for the 360. Crazy theory, but atleast it explains the crazy attach rate for the 360... It still doesn't explain why PS3 exclusives aren't selling...Grammaton-Cleric
I own both (and the Wii) and achievements have nothing to do with my decision to buy third party games on the XB360. The fact is that almost every multiplatform game has looked and played better on the XB360. Period.
The attach for the XB360 is high because the system is literally swimming with quality software. No real mystery.
I absolutely agree, the 360's attach ratio has got more to do with its excellent library than anything else, however I have to disagree with graphics having more of an impact than achievements. I know they are not for everyone, but you have to admit that a large sector of gamers are totally addicted to them, and that being so achievements do influence a lot of people's buying when it comes to which multi plat game to buy. Besides, the graphical differences are so marginal, graphical comparisons are mainly red meat for fanboys. In the end the reason for the 360's insane attach ratio is probably a combination of passionate base, great library, achievements and lets not forget much better online...It's not merely graphics though; the PS3 versions of many of these games have some serious performance issues like lower framerates and excessive load times. I do agree that achievements play a part in all of this but the PS3 versions of some of these games really have been considerably worse than the XB360 versions. The Orange Box is a great example of this.
If we're being truly objective about this (Which I doubt) then we would also have to mention the reason for all these "subpar" PS3 versions is the fact that developers are creating these game for the 360, then porting them to the PS3, I don't even own a PS3, but you can't seriously tell me the reason that OB is glitchy on the PS3 is because of the hardware, Can you? Valve didn't even do the port themselves, some EA brits did. I would refer you to Burnout Paradise as a prime example of this, when a game is made on one system and then ported to another the latter will always be "subpar" But in the end I'm just blowing hot air.... Lets face it, the PS3 either "teh RuleZ" or is a "giant flopzorsz" W00t.
