I have been surprised (FC3 and Skyrim come to mind...both games I wasn't particularly fond of the previous games in the series), but most of them are either beautiful and easy where the interface is great but the game is so short that it is all about replay value (Dishonored comes to mind, as well as all the Uncharted games, and I hate to say it as I loved the game, but the new Tomb Raider too), or the game is gorgous but it gets dull after a while (and yes...I am referring to you, Crysis...the game is aptly named...there is always some sort of Crysis going on, but not much of a strong story). and don't even get me started on FPS...I used to be a huge FPS fan, back inthe half life, Counter Strike days...unfortunately, Counter Strike opened the door and then medal of honor kicked it the rest of the way in with its size 16 standard military issue boot. and then call of duty, starting out as being original, started to just copy themselves, marketing the same game over and over again with a few changes...talk about linear and easy..

Graphics were crazy important in the 8, 16, 32, and 64 bit eras. They aren't that big of a deal anymore. Once you hit the PS2, it is all just a moot point. PS2 graphics were great. obviously now, they seem pixelated and fragmented, but given the HD era we are in now, I think most games are striving to be more lifelike when they don't need to be. one of the coolest Graphical feats I have seen in my life was the Kinghts of the Round summon in FF7. to this day, I will play that game over just about every other FF game that has been released sense. After 10, the games sucked. I haven't finished one sense. and I have owned them all. They got in this need to try and "change the formula" too much. FF7, 8, 9, and 10 were simple. you had control over the battlefield and could do what was needed. 12, it was a pain to get anything done. 13, I will admit, I would like to play more of (my Final Fantasy games keep disappearing). but my point is that the best game that they have made is some of the blockiest looking graphics you can find, but it doesn't matter. the story is solid, the gameplay is solid, and the graphics fit. as long as there is a strong story and a great interface, the graphics don't need to be as strong. in fact, most games now, if they scream graphics when they are advertising it, I almost EXPECT the gameplay to be kinda crappy.

and I get waht you are saying, and that part is right, but what she wants to do is punish everyone just because there are a few bad eggs in the bunch. and that, my friend, is bull. making it more difficult for someone to get a hold of the weapons makes a lot more sense. unless we should have to go through background checks to play GTA.

Seriously? show me one politician that actually plays a game and then MAYBE i might listen to their OPINION on violence in video games. The only issue with that, though, would be that if they played call of duty or resident evil, then stated that video games create killers, they would basically be calling themselves a killer. So come on lady, remove the stick, realize that your opinion is that of someone that has NO IDEA what they are talking about because they haven't played a violent video game a day in their life. I hae half a mind to start shooting chickens from slingshots at pigs and see if they start saying that Angry Birds is bad for this nations youth.

what about Electromagnetism? the fastest trains in the world use electromagnetism to "hover" above the track.

ok this is going to be epic. I was not a huge fan of 4 but I think this will really be a slick ride. looks like it has a bit more of a comedic undertone that 4 didn't have. good. glad to know that 5 has gone back to that. now the only question that remains (not really, but it is the only one I care about right now) is, how will lazlow appear in this game and please oh please make it better than he was in 4...

@suplax Amen, Brother. I agree. If this is really a Celebration, then let's celebrate. a classic port of the original street fighter 2 would be epic. release it to PSN and XBox live for a month, then pull it. THAT is a true celebration. those who want it, download it. if you don't download it in that time, you miss out. that would generate so much possitive press that it would probably boost the sales of other titles. the likelihood of any company actually doing this is slim to none though.

@Holoogamooga_ I loved the PSP remake of Mega Man X, and wished they had continued to make them. but there you go, yet again, capcom isn't interested in what the fans want, they are interested in the pocket book

HD re-releases actually do cost them money to release. it just doesn't cost nearly as much as it would to develop a game from scratch. there are some games that I didn't buy on the PS2 that I wouldn't mind owning, and I am glad that they are releasing them on PS3 with a boost to the graphics. God of War was the perfect example of that. I played both of them on PS2 but I never owned them. I wanted to, though, just couldn't afford them at the time. Now I have them for the PS3 and they have a boost to the graphics. ICO and Shadow of the Colossus is another example. Metal Gear was okay and I loved the first and second ones, but I kind of fell away from the series after that.
