I have a Western Digital Caviar 500GB HD, 7200RPM and I think 16mb cache but cant remember. I timed a few startups and they were all within a few seconds of each other (after your suggestion that it could be the HDD) and well although the test is inconclusive given the nature of the test, I dont think it is tthe hard drive based on the amount of time it took to boot into windows and well for the black screen to occur. Also, it worked fine on safemode, no problems as far as I can tell. jonathant5
If you are having problems copying files that are only 200mb in size or moving them to one place to another and it freezes the PC until its done, then there are more chances that it is the HDD. I say this because i have a i5 2500k and it runs perfectly with the new HDD. First check the RAM, do a memtest for memory problems.

What hard drive do you have? I ask this because the something very similar started happening to me, the computer booted up sometimes it took 2 minutes to completely boot up, sometimes 10, sometimes it didnt do it at all until eventually it died. Now i have a newer one. This happened about 2 weeks ago. I had a seagate barracuda from the 7.11 batch that almost 50% have a high failure rate.

I hope I see a performance increase.

You should have kept your older 6950 for PhysX and use the 4650 as your main card.

Hey Wklzip, long time no see!

So are these going to based on the socket 2011 CPU's?

Daytona_178
Hey Daytona! :) I had to google that, and it says it will be using socket 1567.

So its going to closer to 1155 then? It would be weird if they did not include the 2011 features into server like quad channel RAM, etc.

Socket 1567 is older. Remember that Westmere EX this 10 core beast is still of the Nehalem architecture with a simple die shrink. Socket 2011 will be only for sandy bridge, and the sandy bridge server cpu's should come later.

[QUOTE="blaznwiipspman1"]

thats good and all but AMD's new server cpu's will also be releasing

Daytona_178
Yes, and they are boasting a brand new architecture...i am very curious to see how it turns out.

We are all intrigued. K8 had and its re-refreshes (k10/k10.5) had a very long life.
