Sounds low, the new Tomb raider game sold like 4million and that flopped in sales for devs, it is just now lately it started go with profit...

Except the newest Tomb Raider, much like Dead Space 3, had a bloated development cost, so even selling 4 million units couldn't cover it. But Level 5 and Bandai Namco aren't as stupid as Square Enix or EA. They don't bloat their development costs and just expect their games to sell 'X' amount of millions. Ni no Kuni was a great game made on a modest budget, and even though it sold less than half of what Tomb Raider and Dead Space sold it has earned Bandai Namco more money. A similar thing happened for Bethesda and Arkane Studios with Dishonoured, another great game on a modest budget.

Games like Ni no Kuni and Dishonoured are proof enough that the way the major publishers go about business is stupid. Throwing more money at a project doesn't earn you more money. And instead of seeing their mistakes both EA and Square Enix just bitched about the sales of their games. Both companies are run by a set of idiots.

I'm going to start playing this after I finish startropics but....lol at you foor thinking in this day and age that two separate games selling 1.7 million is good sales.

For an RPG by Level 5 the sales have been good. Dark Cloud, Dark Chronicles, Rogue Galaxy and White Knight Chronicles weren't great sellers themselves, and the only reason Dragon Quest VIII and IX sold well was because they are Dragon Quest games, and in Japan they are guaranteed to sell millions. And the best part is that Ni no Kuni made more money than Dead Space 3, and Dead Space 3 sold more. In in retrospect which games performed the best? The one which made Bandai Namco and Level 5 money, or the one which didn't make EA any money because of the bloated development costs?

I've tried my best to like a game like Skyrim, but just can't do it. I also find it ridiculous that a lot of reviewers, especially Kevin, would give it so much praise when the game is clearly plagued with glitches and bugs. I heard they were fixed, but really? Be honest next time!

I have played Skyrim for hundreds of hours, and I have honestly never once found a major, quest-breaking, AI breaking, or graphics disrupting bug.

Never.

you and me both.

in fact, all I can do is scoff at the mere thought, since, if you take ALL MY GAMES COMBINED I've had only a few problems here and there. I always wait for these game-breaking bugs that never, ever show up.

have I had a few glitches that, oh gasp, make me restart? ya, sure. have I had a few broken quests? sure, until, they get patched or someone finds a way around it.

I have only experienced one bug myself, and that was at the beginning of the game. Since then Skyrim has run almost perfectly without any issues besides the Xbox 360 texture pop in issues.

I got it at launch, and bugs and glitches were all over the place. It was a real mess. Some of them were genuinely funny at first (I saw a head roll UP a hill), but after a while the humour simply disappeared. Playing Skyrim now is almost a different experience for me compared to launch.

......limbs can be cut off?

Since when??

Since when is a head a limb?

In your case it probably is a limb.

Since my One Handed skill reached Level 100 I've been able to decapitate people. I don't have control over it, it just happens sometimes. Y'know, when those cinematic 'finisher' kills happen and the game camera swaps from being first-person to looking at your character do the last attack on an enemy.

I'd love to see it happen, and I think the 3DS would be a more viable option for Nintendo than the Wii U. If Nintendo went back to the classic 2D style with A Link Between Worlds I hope to see a new 2D Metroid as awesome as Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion. That'd make my day.

I'm not sure if I've EVER encountered a game more uncompelling than this one.

* The music is dull / dreary

* The characters are booooooooooring

* The "combat" almost unbelievably bad

* The voice acting / accents / face models don't do it for me

* The story - well at least the story is interesting ... NOOOOOOOOOOT

hahhhaha oh my goodness... the fact that this game receives so much praise is almost enough to make me lose faith in humanity!

Maybe if I could be bothered to learn all the overly complicated potion/magic/spell bs it would make the game slightly more tolerable but there are plenty of other games out there that are way more deserving of attention.

Not impressed.

ps: as for all the mods - I have a hard time believing that even the most ingenious mods could rescue this garbage.

I've always thought the combat (whether weapon or magic based) in The Elder Scrolls series was boring, non-compelling and repetitive. But the joy of the series comes from the pure sense of exploration. None of the games in the series are perfect. In fact they are far from being perfect, each games has its own significant flaws. But their great sense of adventure keep me hooked for hours.

This game was so close to being awesome....if only the combat didnt suck...it should have been turn based. I really wish they remade it and just overhauled that part of the game.

I'm sure the original version for the DS was turn-based. I'd love to see that version remade for the 3DS.

@locopatho: out of the consoles jrpgs are probably better of on playstation. Even so the 3ds beats it due to how big handhelds are in Japan

I'd love to see the DS version remade for the 3DS.

Ni no Kuni is awesome, so I'm glad it reached a million sales. Let's hope for a sequel. Level 5 are by far the best JRPG studio in the world right now, and they have been for quite some time (sorry Atlus).
