I've never really understood; What defines a hardcore game? Is it just any game that is an FPS and uses Xbox 360/PS3 graphics, or is there some deeper meaning? I don't know about you, but to me, a hardcore game is one that is challenging. Sure, FPS's can be hard, but there are some easy ones out there. Are these games considered hardcore just because, despite being easy, contains more weaponry and gore than a harder game? Can't a Zelda game be hardcore, as it incorporates increasing difficulty into its boss fight, dungeons, and puzzles? One last thing. If, in fact, hardcore games are FPS's, don't you hardcore gamers get bored of the same genre and same core element over and over again?

"Are consumers going to be supremely peeved that their 3DSs don't have built-in e-mail clients? What about Flash support? Texting? Various kinds of media playback? No. Consumers know what to expect from these devices and they know what they want from them...." Wait, what? The iPhone doesn't have flash support anyway! One of the reasons I got suckered into an iPad was because I thought it would be cool to watch Newgrounds stuff during a car ride or something, but guess what, NO FLASH SUPPORT!!! Damn Apple. Now I have to do like an assload of inconvienient research before I buy anything over $50 to make sure I'm getting what I'm expecting.

I've been wondering how the controller's rumored touch screen would work, and I think I've got it figured out. During parts of games the require full attention, such as a firefight or serious platforming, the touch screen would have extremely simple controls, like "slide your thumb on the left side of the screen to control movement, and tap the right side of the screen to jump" (which would use both hands respectively and create something similar to a standard controller). This way, you could quickly figure out how to perform a certain action, and soon you won't even have to look at the screen. For more casual aspects like puzzles or drawing a symbol needed in-game, the touch screen would show more complex interactive scenes, since you'll be looking at the screen anyway. This way, the system would be able to support both casual and hardcore games using a simple and effective system. IDK, just my two cents.
