I beat it and overall it's a solid game. The plot can be quite clever but I thought it was way too linear. I think gameplay wise it hasn't improved from Indigo Prophecy, there is almost zero challenge. Replay value doesn't seem too high because the a lot of chapters are almost like they are on rails...not saying it's a disappoinment just not what I was expecting.

1. There were no new IP's

2. Splinter Cell is dead - what happened to the espionage?

3. Alan Wake looks dated and the gameplay looks stale.

4. Everything else was status quo...very safe, risk-adverse titles that don't push the system.

5. It wouldn't be an xbox conference without a Peter spewing garbage.

I'm thinking about Gyrostar, what does it do differently compared to Tempest/Space Giraffe?

Resident evil 4 (and maybe 5 from what information has been released) should not be called resident evil. They have a completely different play styles (to the point that they are closer to action-shooter games then survival horror). And they have almost no connections to the prior games in the series. A lot of the time the only way I know I'm playing a resident evil game is because my character happens to be named Leon.

The fact they changed the enemy's from mindless zombies to faster moving less numerous more intelligent "zombies" is what really gets me. I loved the thrill of fighting a mindless horde while trying to conserve my ammo. It made the game enjoyable for me, it set it apart from all the run and gun games of the time. The expansive story behind the genetic engineering of the T and G virus made it all the more enjoyable. And the other powerful enemy's such as the licker only added to the genuine fear and excitement of playing a truly amazing survival horror game.

Don't get me wrong, I love resident evil 4's gameplay, solid camera angle and good level design as much as the next gamer. But I feel that calling it a sequel to resident evil 3 is misleading and outright ridiculous. If they want to create a more action oriented game with faster smarter AI that's great, just don't slap a classic survival horror games title on it.

That's like saying America shouldn't be called America because slavery is abolished. Things change, deal with it.

Are the PSP and DS version differences strictly asthetic...thinking about getting both.

I'm not suprised to see the direction the suits are going in(wanting to reel in the new Nintendo audience), but the way they are going about it is completely counterproductive and deplorable.

You also have to look at all the high scores at IGN and GI and it really makes you think twice about all gaming media. If anything there is a window for smaller, independent entity to take the lead, because now GS has offically been lowered to the ranks of IGN, GI, 1up etc...a place no hardcore gamer can take seriously. There was always a certain level of professionalism and ethics GS had over the other big sites, and that has now been tossed out the window.

Playing to see how the story will play out, not happy at all with the combat, point at triangle, wait for circle to turn red, shoot, every shot is a damn dice roll, no headshots, the controls is not responsive, the cover system is second-rate, copying the roadie-run isn't exactly a good idea to begin with, but when youcombine that witha rocky frame-rate it can make the player nauseous.

I'm almost inclined to want Bioware's next game to not toy with this idea of "select A, character says this, select B, character says that" and just give the player more obvious branches or select between course-altering missions, it's like I walk up to somebody I can finally talk to among 10-20 in an area that don't even make a single sound, and then I'm watching two talking heads for the next two minutes saying things that I might or might not give a crap about, at least give me accompanying text that tell me exactly what is being said if I so choose to not spend time waiting for the whole conversation play out, I'm almost tempted to just ask for better-acted cutscenes. Give me some crowd noise, Yakuza did that last gen.

Jeebus at the 70s cheesy sci-fi music. I much prefer HALO3's score better than this.

Graphically it's gorgeous, I turned off the grain filter and the motion blur, great character models but the idle animations are severely lacking. Rocky framerate although the pace of the game isn't as fast so it's not as huge a problem as it might have been. They really nailed the vistas, even though they had lots of fake light maps, their main light source is usually well placed.

I guess I'll see later on whether the sum is greater than its parts. I'm really not sure whether picking this over ass creed was a good idea, probably still is I guess.

EvilTaru

LMAO, especially at the music comment.

If you didn't pre-order the collector's edition, good luck trying to find one. Ghost_Face

I hate that it's online only. I was very tempted to cancel and get the reg. edition.
