They rehash features in their games, their video game graphical prowess is piss poor and they sure as hell can make decent animations for their character models.
So all in all, they shouldn't be as opinionated with this subject as they seem to be in this article.
Rockstar? Valve? Naughty Dog?
Now those are developers you want to hear advice from.
Im astounded how this article didnt mention the #1 showstopper that was referenced in the "What Xbox must do" article.
The One-Stop-Box.
Instead this article goes on giving reasons to simple things that are not as important, considering how unpredictable this industry is.
Suggesting the "One-Stop-Box" that implies having cable, video gaming, music, everything you ever needed for multimedia uses...especially if its available in one box with smart subscription options, was the ABSOLUTE best advise that was ever given in this site in my honest opinion.
Things that are sure as hell guaranteed to pay off considering the sheer amount of consumers that buys video game consoles every year. (PS3 64 million, 360 67 million, Wii 95 million)
Can you imagine at least HALF of that install base paying a rewarding monthly subscription that hugely benefits both the consumer and the competitor? Especally the amount of revenues?
My point is, you can't really give the best advice that is future-proof for a competitior and suggest something totally irrelevant...important...but sort off irrelevant.
Sony should take notes and make an Ipad tablet hybrid that you can take anywhere else with wireless cable TV that can play HBO/Showtime/Encore/Cinemax/Stars while providing the best, high quality entertainment on your living room in all areas.
Give, Apple/ATT/T-Mobile/Spring/Samsung/Microsot/Nintendo/Sprint/ etc a run for their money.
The PlayStation brand ha multi-millions of adopters around the world that if Sony plays their card well...it will be PlayStation 2 all over again.
Go with the One-Stop-Box strategy Sony. Theres money to be made in the Cable TV and Tablet/Smartphone markets.
