game will be released next week. Any publications received the full game to review yet? gaminggeek

Spin magazine had a review, gave it 4/5. That was a like a week ago. Gawd knows how they got hold of a final version. I think they were BS-ing it.

Spin Magazine? Where is this 'zine based? The UK?
I've never heard of it.

I would have to say its Sean Bean's voice. :PFunkyhamster

Sean Bean pwns, quit hatin':P

When I first heard him, I was like "WTF Boromir's in this game?!" I had totally forgotten that he was in it... :|

I had forgotten he was in the game untill the second or third quest concerning him, did not recognise his voice :(

Not really the greatest voice work in this game. The three or four NPC VAs get old pretty fast, and the way they seem to have recorded in different tempos and switching between happy/sad/wtf with every sentence takes you out of the experience:

"My son! by the gods, the deadra have slain my son!"

which is followed by,

":) my son's death was a great loss, but we can not mourn his slaying forever. Now how about buying that house I was telling you about earlier? Hmm?:)"

Yeah, the stickers seem like they're there for those crazy omgz0r i gotta collect all the **** in this games lol ^_^ Japanese. I never got that. What is it with the Japanese culture and collecting stuff? Where is the attraction in hoarding a bunch of junk that will never have any practical use?

^^ did that first line come off as racist? I didn't mean to.
I love how random this is getting. Get crazier, bring on Belome, Captain N and the Bomb Rat from Super Mario Bros 2!GodModeEnabled
Bomb Rat was awesome! Wasnt his actual name uhm...... *strains brain* ...... Mouser?!

Yeah Mouser. He was a great first boss. Maybe the best first boss in a Mario game! (but was Mario 2 really a Mario game? Really? )

I'd love to see him as a trophy, throwing bombs and stuff. That would be cool.

I like the game's fresh take on JRPG combat and that it rewarded exploration. I'm not a fan of grinding, but it is not as tedious as in previous FFs. The story is more toned down and more of a backdrop for your dungeon craling than your motivation for fighting. Also, it's less about the Hallmark Channel-moments that the last few FFs have been all about, this works to its advantage as FFX had me gagging and this game really needed not to go down the 'emo' route like the last three -four games (skipping XI and maybe VIII?). Thankfully it didn't and the story is all the better for it.

I think I was about 35-40 hours in when I got the obligatory case of RPG-fatigue. Will come back to it later. (still haven't gotten back to Dragon Quest VIII :()

The sidquest at Kvatch that makes you defend the count from the Daedra.

I've told this story in my blog, but I now have the ending to it as well.

You are told by some Kvatch Legion captain to go get the key to the guard house from a another legioneer inside the town chapel. When I got there he says that he doesn't trust me enough to just hand me the key, so he says he'll go with me to the guards house. Then he dissapears through what I assumed was the door to the town square. But he was nowhere to be found. So then I spent about an hour and 1/2 searching the city for this guy. But I give up.

Then a couple of days later, I'm caught stealing a horse and agree to serve my time. The moment I'm released from jail, and spawn outside the castle gate, said key-holding legioneer is standing there waiting for me, shouting "COME ON! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?" Expecting me to follow him back to Kvatch to save the count.

And this was in the town of Cheydernal (or however you spell it) - directly across the map from Kvatch.

Then this starts happening every time I'm released from jail. I figure there's been a glitch in this one guy's AI procedures and he will spawn outside the castle gate everytime I'm released from jail.

So then I go to the town nearest Kvatch (because Kvatch doesn't have a jail, it's in ruins, remember) and steal a horse and punch a guard. Sure enough, when I was released from the pen, my Kvatch buddy was faithfully standing there waiting for me like a midevil Elwood Blues. So he starts running for Kvatch and I follow him. We get there, I complete the sidequest and now I never have to deal with that crap again.
that guy didn't make it, though. The daedra got to him :`[
Thanks for your BoF opinion GodMode, will check it out:)

Also, speaking of PC games, I'd love to see a remake, or sequel to Carmgeddon II. I know, I know, Carmageddon:? , right? But the sequel was quality. All Iron Maiden soundtrack too (which was basically Run to the Hills and The Trooper on a loop, but hey).

It had a great damage engine for its time. A forerunner to Burnout. Would very much like a sequel.
