No think you got that backwards. The Wii U was released in 2012:

https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_U

The PS4 and XBOX waited a full year and then released their new consoles whit a little more ram and processor power. It's reasonable to guess they waited to see what type of specs the Wii U had and then just doubled that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_4

So when it was released the only thing you could compare to was the ps3. But yeah my point was just for comparison as many people seems to have sort of an incorrect picture of a consoles capabilities. Some people thing the ps3 for example is more powerful than the Wii U.

And in term of power I think a console should be evaluated for what it produce not just for simple specs, most people don't really understand specs anyway, for example the Xbox One got a faster buss than the ps4 but yeah no one understands this anyway so what does it matter while the Wii U have a much faster hard drive than both of them together and a completely different set of algorithms for their graphic unit.

For example Xenoblade Chronicles was released for the Wii U and had a world of 400km^2 and looked just amazing so I would call that performing pretty well.

And yeah I would not consider a game ruined because it uses motion controls, rather the opposite as it made things easier, shooters became more responsive, you got party games, a lot of other new game concepts where born because of this, and yeah just the simple thing of having a bear and do some living room bowling is not all that bad.

For example Okami got 9/10, I would call that a pretty asome game:

Here's are some other totally asome games just for the Wii (Wii uses 88 MB of ram and I can name alot more):

Xenoblade Chronicles:

The Last Story:

Metroid other M:

Fire emblem

Mario Glaxy:

Reed steel:

Rune factory:

World of goo:

And yeah as I said the Wii U produced this (Can make a similar list but this one just blows you mind so is satisfied whit just naming this game):

Xenoblade Chronicles X:

(Notice that the Character is custom made by the player and everything you see is not a movie but the game itself).

I read here and there people writing the Wii U under performed. Think this is a little bad way to say it as there seems to lead to alot of confusion. The Wii U was released a couple of years after the ps3 and because of this they had access to much newer components.

The result was that the Wii U:s hardware was around 20x more powerful than the ps3 so when it camed out so in terms of hardware it didn't under perform at all. For example the ps3 had 256 MB, the xbox had 512 MB of ram while the Wii U had 2 GB of ram. Similar comparisons can be made by all other internal components. So at that time it was the most powerful console on the market.

Besides that it had great functionality, you could play games on the gamepad or on the tv, it was you're choise, it had all the features of the Nintendo DS whit the touch sceen etc, it had build in gyro censor in the gamepad.

It had a superb constant lineup of games. For example the biggest open world game Xenoblade Chronicles X was for the Wii U, I personally also consider it to be the looking to simply because the art work, the brand new game engine that where used etc (games like fallout 4 uses a really old engine):

The only thing the Wii U really under performed in was sales, much because it was miss interpreted as an accessory for the Wii instead of a brand new console.

And yeah as of today Nintendo haven't made a bad control, rather the opposite, they have been the first to introduce new concepts. Even the analog stick that is so common today was something Nintendo originally invented.

From what I heard from my friends and read online is this.

It's a cool experience but the games are really short, not all that good yet and make you motion sick and therefore the price is a little to high for what you get.

Both the ps4 pro and the VR headset itself also seems to be having some issues of overheating and games running at a lower frame rate than the original ps4.

Because of this a day 1 edition might not be an optimal purchase. Don't get me wrong, it's probably a good product eventually but as of now it probably need to undergo some fixes first.

Well I know where this rumor comes from and it's from a comment from a random blogger "I wounder if it will miss launch"...
So I doubt this is the case. I would say that from Nintendo dedicating an entire e3 for the game and promoting it in the trailer I would say it's pretty likely that the game will be a launch title.
But yeah even if it would be delayed I sorta like that whit Nintendo, they never release a game that is not finished like most other game developers. I'm personally pretty tired of games whit a lot of bugs that need like 50GB of patching and stuff.

Well I have read their press conferance that this article links to don't confirm at all that they will reveal the lineup in January as it states even if that might be the case. What they will do on the other hand is offer a hand on experience that could give alot of great information about for example the new Zelda game or the console itself.

No mather the case it looks like an asome console and it will be great the see more of it.

Well I'm already really hyped about the new Zelda game as that might be the best open world game ever created. But I also think that game might be something more than even a normal open world game as you can climb, have a physic engine, great story etc.

But except that I good mario game like mario galaxy would be nice and also another Xenoblade Chronicle whould be asome. Another last story type of game wouldn't be all bad either and yeah another splatoon would also be asome.

@externalpower43: No it's not going to be weaker as it has to be more powerful than the Wii U to be able to create virtual console of the previous system. They even taken out a brand new graphic card/engine that is built on the same technology as modern graphic cards like the Geforce GTX 1080.

@externalpower43:
Dude, the current playstation 4 is performing somewhere between 720p and 1080p depending on games (same as Wii U in other words). The pro might be able to deliver 4k but we still don't know. And yeah the frame rate are usually also pretty bad.
Fallout 4 for example had problems whit the framerate falling to 720p20fps.
And then games like bayonetta 2 runned at 1080p60fps on the Wii U whitout problem.
Even Xenoblade Chronicles X outperformed fallout 4 so much it wasn't even funny.

@jujufreeze: Don't forget all the companies they own as for example:

Monolith software = Xenoblade Chronicles for example.

Intelligence system = Fire Emblem for example.

Pokemon company = Pokemon off course.

And many more.

Well I followed Nintendo for a long time and I'm also a developer myself.

This is my guess:

The Wii U was 5 - 10 times more powerful than the ps3. The Switch should be as powerful as the Wii U or more powerful to allow backward compability. What we know is that it is a brand new graphic card from nvidia specifically designed for the switch that took 500 man years to produce specifically for the console (a hybrid between the tegra processor and their modern top performing graphic cards like the geforce gtx 1080 as I understand it) whit new architecture, libraries etc.

https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2016/10/20/nintendo-switch/

My guess is that it will perform somewhere between the Wii U and the PS4. Problaby it will be fairly much more powerful than the Wii U at least as it will need to software emulate it's games if downloaded from the estore.

Lower resolution might be the case when portable to save battery life, on the other hand I think their is a limit to when resolution is meaningful on a small screen as you will not even see the difference after a while (for example everything over 720p is probably useless, meaby even over 480p might be useless).

Today many companies put in more resolution in for example tablets whiteout it giving any added value what so ever for the end retail client except that it sounds good. The same can be said about for example about the blueray in the ps4 and xbox one, it's completely useless as everything on the disc is installed one the console regardless because it is simply to slow to load games from.
