I’d love to hear someone compare the base PS4 version of the game to the Xbox One X version (those are the two consoles I’m debating getting this for). I’ve got PSVR but I rarely use it. I know this game has to be pretty great in VR, but I’m not sure how often I’d play wearing it. If the game is optimized for One X and looks much better (I’ve got a 4K OLED) playing regularly on X then I’m not sure which I’d prefer.

One last question. If I decide at launch to go PS5 over Series X will PS4 games like this, which aren’t planning on getting any next gen improvements, look better or as good as what I’d get from my One X. Sorry if that’s a stupid question to those of you more versed in tech.

Thanks for any input!

@darren_evans: Is your mouse the only controller you have? I can’t see faulting a flying game for not playing well with a mouse, nor any game meant for a more conventional controller (fighting games come to mind). If because of physical impairments you can only use a mouse then that sucks, but at the same time I still can’t see faulting the game for it.

On a side note, the first X-Wing game on PC years ago I had the same issue that you’re having with not liking the mouse controls. That was the game that got me to go out and buy a joystick for my PC. But back then there was usually a pretty big difference in the types of games that came out for PC vs the ones you played on console. Nowadays, with pretty much every console genre on PC, I’d think a gamepad/joystick would be a mandatory purchase.

Wow, checking current currency conversions, for $499 US dollars it should cost 386 pounds or 422 Euros.

52,285 yen on the other hand, compared to US dollar, so $477 dollars.

$590 US for Euro price

$581 US for British price

I used $499.00 Not sure why I didn’t just use $500, but it’s close enough.

Anyone else holding back on a lot of the new games, at least those that will be getting next gen upgrades, so that you can experience them first on the new systems?

I know I’m not interested in getting anything now that will also have an upgraded next gen version. Thankfully with GamePass and Switch I’ve already got more games than I have time to play, plus I still need to play Walking Dead S&S I got while one sale for PSVR.

Funny thing is, my back catalogue of console games wouldn’t be nearly as large if I could pull myself away from mobile gaming more often. Between Hearthstone, Pokemon Go, and Pokémon TCGO Id say probably at least 70% of my gaming time is on my IPad (or phone). I’m definitely addicted (and not in a good way) to the whole play for rewards cycles used in way to many mobile games. What’s scary is that I realize it and still don’t want to quit.

@death_burnout: I’m thinking they might be trying to capitalize on Forza and GT fans that may be itching for a new edition and have had to wait. This is close to the time racers usually come out, and at least for Forza, it’s the second year in a row without a new title, with the next edition likely 2 or more years away. I’m a huge Forza fan and am really disappointed at how long it will be before a new game hits. If reviews weren’t noting so many negative aspects of this game I would have picked it up.

I’m a fan of FPSs but Halo is one series I’ve never been able to get into. I know part of it was the gameplay in earlier titles where it felt more like Quake run, shoot from the hip, jump around stuff instead of being able to aim down your sights, more precise stuff like in the shooters I like. I think they’ve maybe progressed to that in later games though.

I also never liked the kind of goofiness of the enemies. Everything else seems about the games feels pretty serious, but then the enemies are like little goofballs out of a comedic game.

I wish I could get into them, as they’re pretty universally praised as great games, and I’m sure the story is good and fun to follow. I’ll probably try again with Infinite, but it’ll be my 4th or 5th time trying, so I won’t be rushing out to do so.

@dlCHIEF58: I’m pretty much the same way. I prefer the Xbox One’s experience over the PS4s, which is why I went X over Pro mid cycle. And Game Pass is the best thing since bread, before anyone thought to slice it. I also upgraded my TV, LG 4K OLED, when I got the X. But with everything playable on the X in the near future and with me having not played many PS games since getting the X, I’m thinking there will be more new experiences at launch through the first year for me on PS5, which is why I’m now leaning that way. I still haven’t taken the time to look at launch games for both (my mind was already pretty made up when I though Forza would be there at launch) so that could still change. I’ll definitely have them both at some point though. I’m definitely more about the games than what I play them on, you sound the same way. I was a Sega fanboy in the 16 bit age, so I can understand kids who can only own one console arguing over stuff like that, it’s the folks who are adults that still display the same behavior that I’ll never understand.

Good chatting with you. Take it easy!

@dlCHIEF58: Yeah, I saw that too. As cool as everything was I actually felt more bummed out afterward. With Turn 10 having taken a year off I was almost sure it’d be a launch title and was looking forward to playing a new Forza later this year. Since I already have an X, and only a regular PS4, I‘m now leaning more toward getting the PS at launch and waiting on the Xbox. Who knows, maybe by the time Forza comes out and I get it there might be a new, more powerful version out by then.

Thanks for the reply. Take it easy.

I’d be willing to bet Forza 8 will be shown as a launch game. If it is, then that will decide it for me on which console to get at launch and which to get later. If not, I think I’d start leaning toward PS5.

@davillain-: Hi. I’m extremely NOT computer minded and have a question. If I wanted a PC that could run one of the latest VR headsets well while still being as cheap as possible (but not to the point where it would be obsolete a few years from now), how much would you guess I’d pay prebuilt and if I built it myself? I’ve been contemplating getting a new computer but I’d never considered building one. While I’m not computer minded as far as my knowledge of current tech, how thing work electronically, I am good at putting stuff together.

Thanks!
