I really liked the first Witcher, but haven't played no. 2 yet. Too bad no. 3 is only next-gen. I don't think that my poor PC will be able to handle it.
@Elite_Bushido @jack00 But there's a long history of games tied to movies bombing badly. Just think about every Star Trek, Aliens, or Terminator game published in the last 10 years.
The good thing is that MK is an established game franchise with some great past titles--which means that the movie is more likely to suck than the game.
@Its_MitchConnor This is true. On any given day, Steam's prices for most games--especially AAA releases--are actually higher than many other outlets, even those selling the same games on retail disk in boxes. If you get lucky, you might catch a sale on Steam, but the wait will likely be long and the opportunity short.
@MaTTerCuBe @zzamaro Although I haven't seen this wording in the Steam user agreement, it really doesn't matter Copying Steam games to "external memory items" such as CDs or thumb drives would not make the games work if Steam went under. Unless Valve releases a patch (or crack) that nullified the need to activate their games online, you would be stuck with unplayable games. As with CD-based versions of Steam games now, the games would still need to be activated online in order to play during any new installation. Has Steam committed to releasing cracks for their games in the event that they go out of business? I'm thinking no.
I absolutely agree that games on retail disk that require Steam should be resalable and transferable. I'm a bit less concerned about purely digital games.
This is fine, as long as it is not an exclusive license. Now, let's hope that the NFL soon makes their license non-exclusive, so that Madden gets some competition.
I've been following this game closely. I'm new to the AoW series, but I have a real hankering for a good turn-based fantasy game. And they'll be releasing a DRM-free game on Gog.com, so it's all good.
There needs to be multiple companies making these kinds of games for big franchises like NCAA. I don't mind EA making these games, but they should not solely control the license. Such a monopoly stifles innovation and results in lazy game development, as EA has shown.
Next, the NFL license needs some new blood beyond Madden.
I'm not expecting much from the franchise this year. Besides some new fighters and a few animation tweaks, this will likely be WWE '13.5. And they need a better face person than Warrior to market the game. He obviously has no interest in or respect for video gaming and is doing this strictly for the money, which makes the preorder DLC seem even more like a crude money-grab. Also, most gamers and wrestling fans today wouldn't even recognize or remember the Ultimate Warrior.
