"For single-player games that don’t require connectivity to Xbox Live, you should be able to play those without interruption should your Internet connection go down. Blu-ray movies and other downloaded entertainment should be accessible when your Internet connection may be interrupted."

Please note that he used two times the expression "should be" !!! Very worrying.

This kind of DRM (mandatory internet connexion & preowned fee) will likely kill the console market. Gaming in general is in a dire situation and it's definitely not the way they'll change the trend. What's the point of owning a console over a PC then ? What happens in the future whan MS (or Sony) shut down the servers ? No gaming possible ???

And it will lead to a dramatic increase in piracy. Really, really bad move. How to kill yourself with your own idiocy.

@Daemoroth I agree with you when one studies "wage gaps" in detail, it is usually seen that men and woman make different work decisions.

For example when wheighting "quality of life" vs "work" women statistically choose more often "quality of life" over "work at all costs" than men. For example by choosing to work fewer hours, closer to home, part-time, etc.

(Of course it's statistical and says nothing of individual choices and some women are more hard-working and ambitious than most of their male counterparts.)

So a big part if not all of the wage gap can be explained by free decisions taken by men and women and so are not caused by discrimination.

You can also wonder who is the real winner: the man who works a lot of hours or his wife who comes home sooner. You have to take everything into the picture and not make judgement based on only one variable: salary.

8 minutes video review, why so long ???

I personally never watch 8 minutes reviews. They're often full of non-gameplay footage (i.e. uninteresting) and long digressions on the story (not needed since nobody wants to hear that just before playing the game).

In 3 or 4 minutes everything interesting can be said.

IGN did in the past speed-video reviewing that was a bright idea.

Congratulation Carolyn.

I hate difficulty spikes and lack of checkpoints, this should be taken into account in the rating every time, like you did. A game should be about pleasure and not frustration.

In place of that, we have seen in the past annoyingly difficult games, like Viewtiful Joe on the GC for example having got high marks despite having infuriatingly difficult bosses, with even a level full of them. I stopped playing this game.

Or Fire emblem on the GBA where in-battle saves are constantly erased to make sure you have to do everything all over again in case one of your character gets permanently killed by the boss at the end of the map. I stopped playing too, disgusted.

Or Metroid Zero mission, etc., etc.

For too long reviewers did not take excess difficulty as a weakness, maybe for fear of being judged "unskilled" by peers and readers.

I am delighted that this is changing (and that games are getting on average easier, too).

@denny33142

I don't agree. Download only works if the price is zero or very low. It's the way the music industry went downhill: Majors don't sell CDs anymore, not because people are buying expensive albums online but because of piracy and free music.

On the mobile devices it's the same: what kills the Vita is not full games on Mac devices but free or 99 cents games.

So I'm very doubtful gamers will massively go towards downloading 60 bucks games, abandoning their ownership rights.

Now if they're forced to by publishers maybe they will but it would unleash an avalanche of piracy that could very well damage the industry without recognition.

Second hand on the consoles actually pretty much killed piracy. So it's actually good in a certain way. Better seond hand than piracy. And gamers are happy. It's the best solution for everybody.

I think Edge Magazine and their anti-used game rumor on Xbox 720 are LIARS !!!

They made up this rumour because they mistakenly think that it would be better for the industry and that this false rumor would put pressure on MS and Sony.

But in doing so Edge Magazine lied to their readers.

Everybody should boycott Edge which showed it is only a propaganda intrument for some people who consider themselves representative of the "industry".

Of course MS would:

1. never block second hand without being sure Sony would do it too

2. never do that end of the line because nobody would buy their box.

10 years ago I would have said that if second hand was blocked, piracy would grow exponentially but now I don't know...

If you've got a hacked Xbox 720 and you play online, MS would detect it and ban you.

So I think MS and Sony don't fear piracy now the way they did 10 years ago.

But anyway I still think that blocking second hand would hurt hardware sales so much that they never will do it.

A lot of people would switch to PC and Steam. If you've got an activation key for every game, what's the point of owning a console over a PC ????
