I think they DO realize they have the control. Even though the majority of the time people don't purchase these things, we have all been guilty at one point or another of deciding that it's worth it. We all have varying opinions, and every once in a while, something will tickle our fancy and we deem it worthy to purchase. Yes, we can stop purchasing these things all together, but at the same time, we will be missing out on those few things that we truly enjoy from the publishers.
@nini200: The problem is the fact that enough people believe certain microtransactions, DLC, season passes, and what not are worth the money. It's why pay-to-win games work.... enough people are willing to pay to win the game. A lot of gamers don't like it, but unfortunately there are plenty of people out there buying it, which gives companies a reason to keep doing it.
@silversix_ Tell me about it. I HATE it how I have to read an article before I go to the next one. I wish I could just scroll past it without clicking on it, but that isn't something Gamespot has implemented yet.
