Even before getting xbox live I prefered halo 2 as it just seemed more polished. The combat was more evolved in halo 2 (see what I did there!) as there is more thought gone into what weapons to choose for certain enemies and groups as you have the ability to dual weild and there are more weapons. Just my opinion though, don't take me down :p

I would say do some research and see if the games you want to play are backwards compatible with the 360. If they are just get the 360 and save some money. If not try to find a cheap used Xbox.GoddBless
How do you save money by buying an xbox 360 instead of an xbox to play xbox games?

Xbox live is still running for normal xbox but the only game worth playing on it is halo 2 so if you don't like halo there is little point in getting xbox live for the original xbox.

Mad Catz controllers are alright...The only bad thing about them is that you cannot aim that well as the sticks are too sensitive, other than that pure wireless bliss!

I'd say halo as a fisrt game. After you finish halo it's hard to find another FPS that matches up to it. Farcry instincts is an OK game to carry on your FPS thirst. Unreal Championship 2 was a good game but IMO it could have been so much greater by making it an adventure FPS...a bit like the level in the story mode where you have to race to your next round.

I'd go with NFS if you are used to racing when you don't have to worry too much about braking in turns. PGR and Forza are very much alike, PGR allows you to play 4 player split screen but Forza lets you beef up your car, you decide which you prefer. Burnout is great as you can actually feel yourself going fast. Another game i'd like to mention is Crash Tag Team Racing...some of you might laugh at my face but I think it's ok. It offers a kind of campagin for multiplayer (well, you get cash in muliplayer games and buy new tracks, cars etc) The best think is being able to play it with non-racing people as you fuse cars together. One person drives and the other person (preferably a halo nerd) takes the gun.

Good Luck!

[QUOTE="kaigh"]Pvt_Murphy, that...was a good solid concise, long but it didn't seem to be, accurate post. How about you write; in context, compared to, relative to type game review all the time.8) That would be sweet, 'cause then I wouldn't have to wade through the morass that is un-informed opinion. I know this is asking a lot but I see no other way around the issue.;)Pvt_Murphy

I would love to comment on that but I can't figure out what you just said.

He can't uses commas properly. I got halo/halo2 along with my xbox almost a year ago. I didn't know anything about a hype, all I knew about the xbox was that halo and splinter cell are apparently meant to be the xbox's best. I thought halo was ok, It didn't make me scream through the rooftops but it was interesting enough for me to want to play through it all. It took me a while to get into halo 2 as I kept repeating the first level (how was I to know you are suppose to quit to save your game?!?!). Anyway, moving swiftly on, as soon as I got into halo 2 I thought it was brilliant and it left me hungry for more of the FPS genre...I almost cried when I played Goldeneye afterwards, not the best game to go for...EVER!
