As far as games currently out, not really. I pretty much buy the games I want when they're released. Some are good, some are great, but most usually wind up being a waste of $.
Just keep in mind that most "good" proxies are overseas, located in countries that US authorities have no subpoena power over. One of the downsides to using an overseas server (and there are several) is that your web browsing is often very s...l...o...w due to the high latencies involved.
If you've been able to connect to them before, and you're able to connect with all of your other online games, then the best guess is that the EA server is down. Try again later. If you try again later and you're convinced that the EA servers are up, and that it's not a local firewall problem, I'd probably uninstall/reinstall at least one of the newer EA games.
Wrong forum, but I'm running Vista and there are lots of drivers out for it now. After 5 years of XP, I was definitely ready for a new OS, and Vista's pretty cool.
