I wouldn't mind a new starcraft, fond memories of playing the first game constantly, yet to play 2, but i will be doing once my PC is up and running again.
Xbox games are not exclusive to one gaming box though are they?
They are accessible on PC/Xbox and mobile devices via Xcloud, some are even available on Switch.
Even vanilla Xbox One's will be able to play new next-gen games via Xcloud soon.
Omitting Playstation, is nothing short of normal business practices, which even Sony themselves, are involved in, if not, why can we not get Miles Morales on Xbox? Because Sony have rights with Disney (or more-so Marvel), which would have involved money exchanging hands for an exclusive licensing agreement.
Actual numbers, are there are 20 million players, regardless of access method (GP/Physical/Digital/cloud/PC/Xbox), where the majority will not only get the Season pass, but also dabble in a bit of MT goodness, regardless, the actual fact is Halo Infinite is the biggest launch in Halo history, which is some feat.
What about the other streaming platforms? Twitch is not a representative measure of a game's popularity. Halo has not really been known for it's livestream success.
I think it would be quite straightforward for Microsoft to port to Xbox, keep the games identical, migrate all the platforms to Azure servers once the acquisition is complete, full KB/M support for the Xbox version, cross-platform play.
Job done. Most of which is already implemented in other games available today.
A few have services, but the majority of the franchises are on PC, this is where the majority of gamers reside (1.75 billion as opposed to 200 million console gamers), they have long wanted to break into the PC gaming market, and this acquisition is a big step towards that goal.
COD numbers although still being high, are not what they were during the modern warfare days.
I think it is a good move for the division, and even better if your an Ultimate subscriber.
