I maxed out one character in Cataclysm and can't say that WoW is worth the time and money invested. When you're playing, you can definitely feel that the game forces you to subscribe for many months to really accomplish much. I like my games to feel like you've made progress every time you play, rather than every other time feeling like you wasted an hour of your time.

@CaptWaffle: I'd probably like rpgs more if they were around the 20 hour rage, myself. The first game is amazing in the second half. Especially the last ten hours.

I really enjoyed this game. Didn't like the convoluted Xenoblade ending ripoff thing. But once you realize that the time limit is hardly an issue, you realize there's tons of fun to be had. I loved it. And beat it on my first playthrough with tons of time to spare each day.

Modern games are too expensive to develop and disappoint too often for them to continue much longer. Indies will stick around. PC gaming (I'm a console gamer, so don't start with the elitist comments) will become the main thing. Consoles are just kind of pointless. It's expensive to buy a lot of consoles and games take FOREVER to develop. PCs evolve faster than consoles and you're not stuck with one outdated piece of hardware for 8 years like the PS3 and 360. I'm not a graphics nut either. I'm just saying that PCs are the standard these days. Consoles are outdated the day they ship, pretty much. And there's only a few games worth owning this generation.

Sorry for the rambling comment, but I think I'll stick with my PS2 and Dreamcast and N64. ;)

@thejackdaw: Charter Communications called my brother to cease his activities or be turned into the FBI after his roommate downloaded Fallout 3.

Who pirates games, anyway? I don't think spending many years in prison is worth playing this mediocre game. Heck, even the best game ever made isn't worth it.

@lindallison: I think you meant kb. And you pretty much are missing the magic of gaming. Remember when they crammed tons of charm into something so simple as tiny kb files? Now it takes 200 years to load tiny areas and most games can be beaten without any effort and none generate nostalgia over the years. NieR is the only game of the past generation that really created nostalgic feelings for me.

@lostn: Nomura made VII as well as did most of the work for XV.
