You’re right, Sony doesn’t need to reveal anything this year. It would just give MS an opportunity to adjust their specs to match or beat Sony’s. If I’m Sony I’ll wait till E3 2020 to do a full reveal.

That's what I'm thinking too.

MS showed nothing, not games nor hardware to pressure Sony into do anything. I wonder what they'll do at PSX, but if they had the PS5 reveal planned they may be scrapping that entire gameplan now.

They did show Halo Infinite supposedly running on "next gen" hardware and it failed to impress lol.

This thread is full of too many dumbass lems lol. I like how they are pretending like Sony's soft reveal that doesn't share any important info about the PS5 is a real reveal.

Knowing the PS5 uses Zen 2 and Navi with a fast SSD gives us nothing about its full specs. We don't know what kind of RAM, how fast the RAM is, the specs of the Navi GPU, the clockspeed of the CPU, or even the size of the SSD and its read speed. Sony basically said nothing with their WIRED article, it was something to drum up hype and get ahead of MS in the hype building, nothing more. Looks like it worked because MS basically went on stage on Sunday and choked as they announced exactly the same thing Sony announced week earlier.

All I know is that I’ll be enjoying Cyberpunk on my PC and maybe PS5 and I’ll also be enjoying TLOU2 on my PS5. It’s gonna be a great year for PS5 gamers with 2 GOTY caliber gamers releasing on their system of choice. I don’t know which one to nominate as GOTY because both will be amazing.

@StormyJoe: ? I see you’re an idiot that can’t seem to separate your personal opinion from reality. No one gives a shit whether you want to play FF or not, you don’t represent everyone. Your opinion of the game has no effect on the hype of the game with the masses. You are one lemming out of the millions of gamers out there, the game will sell many millions without you.

Is anyone who's been watching Microsoft evolve their business strategy, both in gaming and other markets, since Satya Nadella became CEO, surprised?

I've said in a post a while back that I don't think Microsoft care about how many consoles they sell anymore. They'll continue developing hardware, of course, but I think they see it as merely another option for consumers to get into the real meat of the Xbox business: the Xbox platform itself, which between streaming, their return to PC both through Windows Store and more recently Steam, and their Game Pass, is becoming an increasingly hardware-independent gaming platform.

In the context of this, their rumoured hook-up with Nintendo makes all the sense in the world. Heck, with their partnership with Sony on cloud gaming, I would not be surprised one bit if Xbox Cloud and Game Pass ends up on Playstation as well.

I think people here still think a bit analogue; hardware sales, piece of the pie, own everything in it. And it's true, Microsoft of the Gates and Ballmer eras thought like that too. But Satya Nadella, as he demonstrated in his non-gaming businesses, does not. He thinks "presence;" he does not care how big a piece of the market Microsoft owns, so long as they have a presence in it. This was the logic behind things like open-sourcing .Net, scrapping Windows Phone and porting all their apps to iOS and Android, and porting Bash to Windows 10. And as their recent commercial fortunes show, it has worked out for them nicely.

Now, we are seeing the "Presence" strategy seeping into the gaming side of their business. We are seeing Spencer's interpretation of his boss's ideas. Xbox no longer care what hardware you play their games on, so long as you play their games.

It sounds like a good strategy for them but they'll need to improve the quality of their games to get my money. I'm part of the market they want, I game on PC and PS4 and I have expendable income but because most of their games not name HaloGearsForza are crap I have not yet really invested into their platform. If they can improve the quality of their output to match Sony's AAA efforts then I'll be willing to support them with my money but games like Sea of Thieves and Crackdown 3 I will not spend money on.

In my opinion both Square Enix and CDPR won E3 followed by Nintendo for giving their fans what they want. Sony didn't win E3 but they didn't lose either because they weren't there but I think they still caught a bit of a win by not embarrassing themselves like MS and the others. They didn't have any new thing to show, and they didn't waste our time pretending like they did which is a good thing in my book. The biggest losers of this E3 were MS and Bathesda. MS needed a big E3 to steal momentum from Sony and generate hype for Scarlett but instead they ended up falling flat on their faces. Bathesda was really bad, I didn't even bother watching it LIVE and I was still disappointed by the announcements.

Deluxe Edition. As much as I love FF7, I’m not gonna spend $329 on it.

@thatdbfan: It’s okay, with these walls of text in this thread it’s easy to get confused about what is being said. No offense taken.
