Some real Turtles in Time vibes here. Almost fanservice. Count me in.

@poe13: I would still rank all three sequel movies above the prequel trilogy movies. By comparison, even though the story was more cohesive, the script is badly written and the acting is so poorly done that all three are near-unwatchable. The only way I can get through them these days is on a Friday night with friends so we can make fun of the movies while enjoying a good drink. That being said, I would happily forget all 6 movies discussed here.

@id0ntkn0w7: If this opinion where the prequels are suddenly decent movies becomes popular then something truly is wrong with the world. There is literally nothing good about the prequel trilogy. Like you said; if people are able to be critical of the sequel trilogy then certainly they would be able to do the same for the prequels.

People that believe that the sequel trilogy is somehow worse than the prequels have completely lost their minds or simply have not watched the prequels since they came out.

I urge them to try, the prequels are unwatchable.

@BLKCrystilMage: Maybe not as bad as some people said, but certainly bad still.

@sebb: sweet_jcs already mentioned it, but you have indeed gone exploring a little too far. I would suggest returning west and then exploring to the south first and then attempt to complete at least Stormveil Castle before attempting to go near Caelid.

@sebb: My personal opinion, based on what you have written, is that Elden Ring and perhaps Souls games in general are just not for you. You struggle primarily with the difficulty of the game but difficulty is 100% a subjective experience. I have up to 200 hours invested into Elden Ring now and am running my 4th playthrough to wrap up a side quest that I missed in the previous playthroughs before I lay the game to rest. I cannot say that the game is not hard, because it certainly throws a decent amount of skill and level checks at you. In my first playthrough I ran into similar obstacles that you did. I found a way through them or around them. The game allows you approach progression in different ways.

Personally the biggest gripe I have with the game is that it may have taken one step too far in letting the player figure things out for themselves. It is especially daunting if you have no Souls experience at all to realize that so many quest lines and NPCs are hidden in such a way that you may never find or complete them. But that's just about the only negative that I could find based of only the first playthrough.

Finally, regardless of what you have written here I still think that the issue is that you as a player cannot get the mechanics of the game down. It may even be the way you are approaching the game to begin with. I for one would probably not attempt to take down a giant only a few hours in. In fact, the first giant I came across dropped down from a cliff on top of my face. The next time I walked through there I sprinted right past him.

There are quite a few examples. But for reference I would use the very first Tree Sentinel that you see when you are level one. He is the the perfect example of a boss that you probably should not attempt to take down right away. Yet I have seen players come out of the crypt walk straight to him only to get one shot followed by a rage quit. With that experience they would then go and complain about difficulty on forums, never having experienced the game or realizing that they probably should have walked around the Tree Sentinel.

@sebb: I am certainly not a masochist and as for experience (how much this says anything about anything, I don't know...) I am in fact one year younger than you and have had all the same consoles and probably the same games. And I can say with all honesty that Elden Ring, in the day and age of shit open world games is one of the best games this decade. And I have played the game enough to be able to say this.
