@treechopper88: I disagree - all the main dungeons in this game are large and complex enough that if you were to remove the open world and just put them all together as a linear experience and called it DS4 I still would have enjoyed it enough to give it a solid score.

The larger secondary dungeons are also fine - For me, it's the mini/side dungeons where the problems arise. The re-used assets start to become very obvious after a while.

@davidb50100: The game is easier than previous Souls games. The first hours of the game can be challenging. It is one of the goals of the game to force you to learn. As you progress further beyond the early parts of the game you will find that as you learn the game also becomes easier. Also, you do not score a game based on the player-base love or hate of the game, especially when those shouting "I hate it" the loudest are using the "The game is too hard" excuse as the main reasoning for why it should be scored lower. I can name a plethora of real reasons that you could use that make a lot more sense to get the game to around an 8/10 score and it being too hard certainly is not one of them.

@dmblum1799: Looking back at my first playthrough I am going to have to say that the game was challenging early to mid-game but not necessarily hard. After mid-game things got exponentially easier. People complaining about this score are usually the ones that quit after 45 minutes of play.

@GT_APE: There is a button on the floor that makes the Elevator go up. You are getting trolled by a Souls player - the classic souls way.

@cydie: Not a lot of games leftover if you depend on Steam and Metacritic for reviews - those sites literally are the spawn of troll reviews.

@drusmanbashir: It's hard to come across truly objective people - Because of this thing called 'opinion'. The user scores are also being bombed by users giving it a range of undeserving scores from 0/10 to 5/10 and no good comment or review to back that score up at all. Most of them seem to have played 60 minutes of the game (or not at all) and refer to singular issues to warrant a 0/10 score. I am more inclined to then go of this 10/10 score at GS than those trolls shouting in their echo chambers. Another thing that has become apparent is that this game seems to have more reach and there are new players joining the fold that have never played a souls game. I can imagine that it can be hard to get used to a game not holding your hand from start to finish in an open-world setting. I too would be pissed if the mini-map does not support the 'checklist' functionality so I know what to do and that was the type of thing I am used to due to AC/FC/HZD and the likes. Some of these players, when they finally settle down after the initial rage that Souls game cause will probably pick up the game later again and find it to actually be a lot better than what they mentioned in their user reviews.

@Cbordi: If a short-term patch fixes the technical issues on PC then you can look into overlooking them in a review. Say they fix it within the next few days then the technical issues really will not have a huge impact on the general public during their playthrough. But they will need to release said patch quite quickly. If not then it should be taken into account. Say if performance was all-around bad and near unfixable such as the Cyberpunk release on previous-gen consoles then I would say, sure bomb the score. But that is not what is happening here - the stutter only occurs in certain situations within the game world and could be attributed to a simple glitch that a patch can fix.
