killzone 1 to 2 was a very good turnaround...

[QUOTE="siddhu33"]probably, and it's free too (Halo needs some money to render videos for you, while PC shooters can just use fraps)...
And don't quote me on this, but you could easily just use the console to force first person or third person or free cam...

Some games also have in-built rendering to video. Off the top of my head: UT2004 and Source Engine games.
Do FPS games on the PC have the sort of free-cam that theatre mode does? (I'm sure that they do, but just asking)

With pretty much any PC game that has a recording feature, you can configure it to automatically record every game, or even keybind recording-related commands.
And so you have proved what I just said...
I was specifically talking about console gaming here. I don't play PC shooters so I don't know what they have or haven't done, and I don't mean to discredit anything that has already been done. Regardless, my question really wasn't "Has this been done before?"...my question was "why haven't more shooters started doing it?" I ask because I think they're good features that add a lot to the game.
As for community, Gears of War and Call of Duty have enough of a community that could justify these features. I think games like maybe Battlefield and Medal of Honor, Resistance or Killzone could consider it too. I say that more due to the fact that these are all supposed to be Top Tier shooters.
One question though, has there been a PC shooter that had a "save film" feature as advanced as Halo's?

It has been done way before in PC GAMES.

sometimes its a smart idea to compare games to only other games in the same platform... if not every game on the wii would get lower scores cuz of graphics.
when it comes to console fps, TC is righ about halo being ahead of the curve.
Saying that an aspect of a game is "ahead of the curve" would imply that it is somehow innovating and pioneering.
However Halo's theater mode is essentially a copy+paste of what PC first-person shooters have been doing for YEARS. The claim doesn't really work..consoles games are not so different from PC games that you can say that.
But how easy is it to do theatre recording of FPS games in PC, compared to a console shooter? Much easier.
The only Real answer:
This is also Okay...
