What's even more impressive than the top 3 Switch games reaching these milestones is that their sales are not close to stopping and they're consistently on sales charts in all major markets around the world.

God of War was at 5+ million a month after release. I thought they were going to share what it's at now. I guess they'll make a statement when it hits 10 million. I wonder how successful Spiderman is going to be, and TLoU2 after that.

@Jinzo_111887: How much better? Enough to offset the ~$2 billion a year the high profit margin PS+ nets them? Some of the most popular games right now are free to play, and those don't require PS+ anyway.

These people are driven too heavily by what could make the most money, not by what makes for a good experience. They're not looking for a good balance, made evident by the things they've attempted in the past. Anyway, if the future turns out as trash as they imagine it, then it's going to be because the average user is an imbecile. They decide what becomes a thing and what doesn't, and the largest blame falls on them.

Yeah, Blizzard sees nothing wrong with their loot boxes in Overwatch, yet when the law in China required them to make odds publicly available for any loot box they sell, they immediately looked for and implemented a loophole so that they don't have to tell you the odds, yet you can still acquire loot boxes with money without them technically selling loot boxes. There's definitely nothing wrong with their monetization practice when even just telling you the odds of getting what you want to get is a big enough problem for them to the point where it needs to be avoided.

Haha, Blizzard poking fun at others for this type of bullshit? That's rich.

@pspearman: Can't agree. Smaller budget game, sequel, spinoff of a popular IP, limited marketing. It probably still made money even though few care about it. Obviously anything you invest in hoping for a payoff is a risk, but I'm talking about significant risk. A risk that they put their full backing behind and can potentially produce another franchise and more fandom for a platform. Like Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, Scalebound, the first Last of Us... to name a few. Even changing a franchise up and making it feel as innovative as it once was is a welcome risk that can have a big long run payoff, instead of just polling another one off the assembly line and letting the franchise fandom decline. Making something new or different in general. Well, at least they're taking a risk on Sea of Thieves.

Play anywhere is fine, it's not the issue even if it takes resources from Xbox. The issue is that Microsoft itself isn't making enough games nor taking enough risks when they do make games, even compared to themselves in earlier years this gen. I mean for the first 9 months of this year they just put out one niche RTS game. I have an Xbox and the last time I've used it is when I played Dead Rising 4 last year.

I only play games that have a "strong female lead", whatever that means. I wouldn't even play games that have awesome female characters/leads if they don't have the "strong female" label, I'd only play the ones labeled "Strong female lead".

@Fallenlords69: Some people liked the first one, the second one was pure jank. It's no hidden gem. Friend played this one at E3, has very negative opinion on what he played. Can't see this game being a critical success, but can be a small financial success.
