@gunnyninja: Compounding the initial post of this entire thread; That there is a reason why some people are wary of Epic, to which your stance on is fairly clear given your past conversations and your reaction to what I had said.. And what is lack of proof to you? The fact that it was caught doing something specifically pretty undesirable before being denied with bogus excuses? That's fairly rich coming from someone who is basically implying "da guy said it isn't true so it must not be true because he would never lie ever". Sure, there's no undeniable proof that what the man excused it with isn't true, but what is true is that it was reading information on people's computers that was not meant to be read and was done so without permission.
@gunnyninja: Yes, I am well aware that it has been denied. I'm simply saying that it was caught doing things akin to spyware, regardless of what excuses were made for it and what you believe.
Secondly, yes, Steam does collect data; The comparison made here is silly, however. Steam pretty much tells users what they are collecting, makes it optional, and anonymous, which is generally hardware information survey and DRM when games are running. NOT collecting data on you and your friends from other software and platforms you use, let alone without permission, and acting overall shady in execution. Hopefully you can see why so many people are skeptical at the moment, exclusivity practices aside.
More power to anyone who wants to overthrow Steam, though. I'm tired of their antics, personally. But most people do not seem entirely thrilled with what Epic is doing right now.
@gunnyninja: By using their platform, which has been caught with its pants down at least twice now doing things you'd generally only see spyware do. And I assure you, the free games are there to make you use their platform, no more or less than the bought timed exclusives.
@Dav3vsth3World: I've not played many games lately that make the kissy face. I mean, Sims, I guess, but my Sim was gay so it was the gay kissy face. It seems, generally, that developers tend to try and avoid this kind of content in game. Too much controversy and knee jerk reactions all around.
@guudgidg: Not to seem as though I am trying to question your views or anything, I am gay myself, but I am very curious; Why is it in the game then? Legitimately wanting to know.
