Oh yeah, and I also bought the Wii for Super Mario Galaxy, so if you still haven't tried out the two greatest platformers of last gen then I, highly, recomend that you do.
I feel much the same Way about buying a new consol. After all, I waited nearly two years from lauch to purchase, regarding the Wii U. When I, eventually, did buy the machine it was much cheaper (I just paid about £210 for one bundled with Mario Kart 8) and it, finally, had that must-own game. The same goes for, pretty much any other consol I've ever owned - I bought Xbox360 for Gears of War and PS3 for Metal Gear Solid 4. To me, it's 90% about the games, 9% about the price and 1% about the hardware. Graphics aren't really my thing.
As of yet, neither PS4 nor XBOX ONE are able to offer that must-own/must-play experience, but I'm sure that will change in 2015. My PC, I use, mainly, for Playing indies. My last upgrade was for Far Cry 3.
Im a PlayStation-and-Xbox owner of the past three generation. As a matter of fact, the xbox360 introduced me to Bayonetta. And as of yesterday I am a joyfull owner of a Wii U - all credit to Bayonetta 2. So some of us Xbox/PS-regulars still know quality, when it is right in front of us.
Waiting for october 24th, now, feels like waiting for Christmas before the smaller, more traditional Christmas.
Does this game even convey anything or is it just self-indulgent sentimentality like so much else in moderne gaming/movies/books?
As for the gameplay, I doubt that the gameplay mechanics of Child of Light can hold their own against true pioneers of the RPG genre like Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger, which were both demanding, highly balanced and, therefore, infinitly more rewarding than nearly all games of the modern era.
Seriously, why do all post-Modern Warfare games (with the exception of Dark Souls, of cause) feel like 5-10 hours of "Press X to see stuff happen"?!?! Are modern gamers really that dumb? Of cause not! Game developers like Activison and, indeed, Ubisoft just seem unaware of this fact.
