People fear progress. It's something unknown to them as it's new.

Someone will come along and give an accessory that tried this before but they're not going to mention the Wii mote is a main controller and not an accessory. Doing that would require some form of common sense and reasonability.

Myself I'm glad we're not still using Coleco pads for gaming. We'd still be using such if people would be so anti towards progress.

It's hard to single out one weakness for the PC as there always more than one acting in concert against it. I see piracy was listed here already though.

What I call the rat race in hardware upgrades. (Others call it an arms race) This pro can also con against itself making developers infringe high system requirements which limits a target audience. (disastified PC Developers like those of Crysis) The ever present danger of a system standard would make it only a console in the end. (An example game, Lionheart. had a locked resolution and people outcried against it)

Lack of backwards compatibility at times. Vista is famous for this nightmare with the forgoing of Directsound. Processors alone shouldn't bare the brunt of handling sound. It's Account Control forces most to shut the feature off and have done with it.

Revolutions. Things like moving to MMOs and selling games through downloads. MMOs seem to have left other genres lacking. (single player RPGs I'm looking at you) The move to selling games through online seem to be giving the impression PC Games are having trouble selling. (The NPD apparently wants to aid this along by only counting brick and mortar sales) While also a pro revolution can be a con with a re-skin of current architecture.

In a versus situation I don't think the Conduit will triumph over Killzone 2. I prefer the Wii mote over pads for shooters though.

If they keep the customizible HUD feature in though I think the Conduit should recieve recognition on that front. Even though I have some shooters it's the only one on console that I know of that's going to have that feature. I could be wrong though as I don't follow the shooter genre much. I'm more RPG and action/adventure oriented myself.

I don't play the PS3 online myself but what I can view from a family member playing shows me it's good enough. Warhawk and Socom seems to play fine. People have differing IPs and broadband speeds so who knows.

[QUOTE="scorpion88057"]

At least someone started a thread with numbers and a pie chart this time. Nice work on that.

[QUOTE="mijkil"]

Nintendo fanboys love to try and muddy the waters on this subject with semantics, even though they know all the games they love and all the greatest Nintendo franchisies are hardcore games.

Most people on this board would agree that hardcore games distinguish themselves from casual games by rewarding the players skill, and patience, with unique experiences. Casual games on the other hand are dumbed down to the level that anyone can enjoy them regardless of the amount of time and effort invested. This isnt necassarilly a bad thing for those that enjoy them, but it simply aint my bag, and im pretty sure its not yours either :)

Unless you make corpse runs in your games, are involved in massive timesinks, endure roguelinke games, and spend every waking free time moment playing games then please refrain from butchering the hardcore argument. The common agreement outside this site is time is what makes one hardcore or not but I believe in something more when one ascends to the true elite. Happily I just count myself as a gamer instead of elite.

This core and hardcore argument is for the dogs. We'll all be slushing in puddles until this nonsense is laid off.

The activities you described arent really hardcore, rather they describe the behaviour of someone with aspergers syndrome. I happen think my definiton stands up quite well.

If you say so. I happen to think Asheron's Call and Everquest are more hardcore than what is happening today. Those players would probably agree too. Then again if the core and hardcore are changed it can magically make game types like these obselete. That's not my agenda though. I'm only a gamer here.

[QUOTE="Can-o-Mark"][QUOTE="mijkil"]Like most people on this board, Im relativley unconcerned about Nintendos dominance of the casual market. Im here because i like playing hardcore video games, not party games and shovelware trash.mijkil

Perhaps you can give me a good definition of the word hardcore and casual.

I think I'm going to hand the crown over to the 360 fanboys for this site. Not only do they make it a console war but they make it a USA vs the World stance too. (See the anti-Japanese RPG comments and "an American company succeeding comments for a couple) I'm from the South and even I can see the hate/discrimination. "Pro-American" would be allright if the "anti" didn't follow it.

There've been several threads locked regarding fanboy wars i guess u guy's don't understand that this is system wars.McdonaIdsGuy
Tell them to properly crack down on the type of threads they were supposedly cracking down. I'm tired about hearing red rings, PS3 is only good for Blu-Ray, PC takes grands to build, and the Wii graphics suck/is "cute" and "cudly" comments. More intelligent discussions with pro, cons style, numbers, and logic would be nice.

[QUOTE="SapSacPrime"][QUOTE="Haziqonfire"] Proof? Shovelware rarely sells well.Haziqonfire
Red Steel was one of the first games to top 1 million :| I would class that as shovelware.

Red Steel was not shovelware ... :|

Exactly. What's sad is they can't decide what is to included in their term to compliment their divide and troll efforts.

lol, clinging to hate? I have all the Wii's best games. it's just weak right now. whether you accept the truth or not is none of my concern. it doesn't change the reality; it just shows how out of touch you are.Dreams-Visions
Best is always opinion and always subjective. Even if you have games and played them all the way through then you're just showing signs of wanting to divide and troll conqueor gamers. (If there's a best you had/have something to play) As I said clinging to hate.

I don't remember saying whether or not 08 was weak anyway but apparently you've seen fit to dub so. Another fanboy trait to tack on the inability to try genres?

I'll return the "out of reality torch" right back to ya. On second that I'll just be waving my hand at your outstretched handed offer.

either pull up your pants and deal with it or move along. the attitude didn't come out of the clear blue sky. it's come because gamers--like many of us here--have tried the Wii and are still waiting for games that appeal to us. it doesn't help when Nintendo makes Wii Music and it doesn't say much for the userbase when WiiPlay is among the top selling. it tells you a lot about the gamers of the console in general. until the Wii gets some legit games from some legit 3rd party companies at a better pace than 1 every 6 months, it will continue to draw our ire. Understand, we don't hate the platform; we hate the lack of good games appearing on said platform. and in the case of the Wii, we hate how bad the Wii looks on HDTVs and lamer-than-last-gen online solution (last gen's Xbox had a much more competent online service). Dreams-Visions
Since you want to resort to that I'd answer either shut up or move along if you continue supporting the low-based arguments, "shovelware", and "crap" repitition. Not going beyond that is just clinging to hate and that's all it is. If one cares about clinging to credibility anyway.

Try for how long is always in the eye of the beholder.
