We go a ways back, chess (seriously, like eight years) You know I've always liked you.
Eight years of disagreeing about movies and yet somehow I'm always right. :P
Looking forward to your 30k party pretty soon. Will bring a De Niro gif in return. What a badass
I was past 30k before this site got a redesign.
Oh, and congrats, I guess.
Probably the most sluggish episode thus far. Enough with Vaughn's brooding demeanor and relationship troubles. Show is at it's best when the case is actually making some progress, as formulaic as it seems, not when it's dwelling on some bullshit politics that at the moment don't have much of a connection to the central plot. I do think this season is lacking from a fresh eye; each episode seems to be riding on the typical sleek aesthetic with little imagination. And that shootout seemed to try hard to bring some dramatic oomph to the table (it's hard not to think where this show left us with its fourth episode last year), and while some of it did indeed work, a lot of it just felt like an incoherent mess with its poor staging (are any of the cops a good shot?) The freeze frame had no impact whatsoever.
There were many instances here where I thought I was done with the show, but there's promise there that'll keep me 'til the end. McAdams brings life to a character that remains an archetype, though she's strayed further than her other co-stars. Farrell, as talented as he is, is unable to bring any edge to his character, who has to be the worst written character in the show's run.
I think it's unfair to compare the video game industry to the film industry. The video game industry is very young. It was born like what 35 years ago? And film? A lot older. Compare the output of the film industry when it was still 35 years old and you'll see the video game industry has evolved really fast.
Compare the film industry at 35 years and you'll see a far greater progress in terms of storytelling and overall depth.
Anyone that says yes to games has incredibly limited exposure to film or has absolute shit taste.
Or both.
