@aus_pride @s0l1dsnake @paladin1459 Gamestop pushes people to buy used because they have inventory to get rid of, it's like I said earlier if PSN and Live had more discounted sales on AAA games (a la Steam) it would do much more for the developer and not having to worry about used games at all. Add in the fact that on the PS4 you can play a demo of any game before you buy it becomes even less of reason to worry because it gives the consumer the power to think yeah I really like this game i want to download and play it.
Give the consumers transparency and choice and you will see how that does wonders as opposed to restricting them.
@paladin1459 @s0l1dsnake Giving them the tools is just as bad, if you wanted to murder someone and I gave you the gun am I absolved of responsibility. Yes the publishers themselves have the largest incentive to eliminate the second hand market but why make it easier. If you develop a quality game with actual replayability then people might not be so apt to sell it to Gamestop or on Ebay. Might I added if Xbox Live and PSN both had Steam like sales on relatively new games then that also goes a long way in not having to worry about whether someone get's their games used or not.
@paladin1459 @aus_pride @s0l1dsnake Another point that is sorely being missed here is the install base for the consoles themselves, if the Xbone proves to have underwhelming sales, developers aren't going to bother developing exclusively for the Xbone just because they can nickel and dime the consumer easier on it. Which in essence makes the whole DRM scheme moot. If you want to only buy new a support the developer and publisher that is your prerogative but don't dump it on the rest of us. It's like Nintendo said, if someone buying a game used is such an issue then maybe they should be making better games.
@paladin1459 I'm afraid you're the one that doesn't understand my friend. Microsoft has an infrastructure and technology in place to assist a publisher in restricting used game access. Sony does not, PS4 is no different than PS3 in this regard, if a publisher wishes to put an online pass they can but it can't get much further. Microsoft makes it possible for a publisher to completely lock you out of a game, that my friend is the epitome of anti-consumer, they completely steam rolled the consumer just so someone cant buy a used game that was purchased. Most people that will buy a game used is because chances are they wouldn't have bought it new to begin with.
@R3PTAR It's the DRM scheme, you can't share you can't resell, it checks in every 24 hours to see if it needs to restrict you, it's not the connectivity itself that is the issue.
