@uninspiredcup: The male role-model in this day and age is trash. It's either some whiny, overly-emotive, pseudo-intellectual cowardly wuss that is ashamed of his penis, or it's some roided out and muscled up, super aggressive, sexist, meathead dumb ****. The world we live in is all about extremes and it's getting annoying.

@LJS9502_basic: I disagree. Keeping the military up to fighting and technological standards, and surpassing those standards, is a necessity. It's part of the reason we have the most powerful military in human history, and it should stay that way. That being said, we could probably be more effective with how we spend the military budget. There's a lot of it that is wasted on dead end projects and boondoggles. Besides, the military budget pales in comparison to the amount we spend on Medicaid/care and social security. Military spending is roughly 16% and Medicaid/care and social security takes up over 50%. The real cuts we need are in entitlements and such, but no one is willing to make the cuts because too many people are dependent on it at this point, which is a shame. It's not sustainable in the long run... unless money actually starts growing on trees.
Good. There's a lot more that should be cut. This new budget isn't that fiscally responsible. The Republicans always talk about cutting the budget, but once again... when action is required, they turn tail. Shocker.
Good intentions (though the intentions and actions should have manifested decades ago), but it's now spiraling out of control... like most movements do.
How the hell are they going to make a true Conan series in our current political environment without people bitching and moaning to the high heavens? It's about a muscled up toxic white cis-gendered male running around saving/banging trophy women in a heavily patriarchal world while killing hordes variously shaded brown people and endangered monsters.
Hmm. I thought I'd be in the minority in my dislike of Disney's take, but I guess not. I never even saw the Last Jedi, just read a bunch of reviews and reactions and that pretty much settled it for me. I did this because I was not impressed with the the Force Awakens (except the visuals) and didn't want to waste my time going to the theater if the new one was gonna suck. I'll probably see it on Netflix at some point. All I wanted from the new series was to watch Luke do badass Jedi Master shit... but they couldn't even pull that off. I never really found Star Wars to be that great of a sci-fi setting, except when I was a kid, but that was generally due to the spectacle of it, since Star Wars always looks great. The Star Wars universe just feels bland to me as far as sci-fi settings go. The only thing that sets it apart from being completely generic is the Jedi/Sith, lightsabers and Force stuff.
