Love Dark Souls - hence avatar - and will get the definitive edition, but only because I didn't get the DLC. If I'd got the original plus season pass I wouldn't bother.
I understand that this is the best way to do a definitive edition but if I'd invested more in DS2 (ie as much as I had in DS1), only to learn the same game was coming out but better on new gen, I'd feel a little annoyed.
@superbuuman That's the appropriate response when a game offends your tastes. What bothers me is when politicians play society's moral arbiters and pass decency laws that remove games from sale, depriving everyone of the opportunity to make their own judgements.
Weirdly I think that adds to its credibility. You wouldn't expect to be able to go wherever you wanted in the real world, especially not a castle. Lordran's inaccessibility makes it feel like it exists independently of the player, rather than solely as a place to accommodate the player (like Skyrim and WoW).
Between the glitches, the even more aggressive push to microtransactions, the fact that the story is apparently mediocre, and the unlikelihood of meaningful mechanical changes (here! Climb a tower! Here! Collect endless pointless animus fragments!) or the removal of all the little things that bugged me about previous experiences (e.g. the cluttered and pushy UI), Ubisoft just keep giving me good reasons to get out of what was once an awesome series.
The fact that it was sold at least partially on its story made me pretty disappointed to discover how poor it was. Games can be great without story at all, but for me a good story adds a lot. Moreover, since story and gameplay aren't mutually exclusive and bungee have delivered both in the past, I think we all had a right to expect better.
I enjoyed lots of Destiny but I'm not a massive fan of the grind, and without the context of good story and characters the world feels pretty cold, so I doubt I'll go back with so many other great games coming out soon.
If I hear one more person bitch that TLOU is better than an 8 I'll force feed cocaine to a puppy. It's brilliant in a lot of ways but personally I was pretty bored by the end, IMO an 8 is more than fair. Obvious caveats: everyone's taste is subjective, it's an unfair comparison with Bayonetta etc.
Never been tempted by Bayonetta either so I doubt I'd agree with a 10, though I'll never know since I don't have a Wii U. Just accept you're never going to agree with any one review site.
I'll admit it's a change of genre for them, but dude, Creative Assembly are awesome. Rome 2 was buggy on release so everyone forgets the years of consistently excellent Total War games that came before. The gaming community is so damn fickle sometimes.
That was my point mate, I was offering an explanation as to why gender-exclusive events happen in other games. Again, I don't support such divisions or agree with the reasoning behind them, but I thought it'd be helpful to note that they existed way before e-sports.
