Quakeworld - 7/10

I'm totally bored of online fps games now, although CS and TF2 may still get played once in a while..

[QUOTE="pyromaniac223"] Why don't you rent it? Or make an informed opinion after playing it? Blindly following reviewers is almost as stupid as listening to internet forumers.pyromaniac223

Renting every game you're remotely interested in isn't a cheap habit in such times.

If there's a particular site that's gained your trust (like Eurogamer for me), why shouldn't you consider their opinions? I don't think this is a matter of 'blindly following' - there's a difference between making note of reviews and being slavishly obedient to them.

Then...don't rent games that you are slightly interested in? Just the ones you probably want to buy, but are just a little concerned over?

You see, there's a fine line in making judgements about games, as you've just highlighted yourself by explaining the intricacies of how to decide what to rent, whilst being economical. That's why reviews are so important, they make the process easier by pointing you in the right direction.

The only game i regret buying with consideration of reviews alone is Super Smash Bros: Brawl.

Yeah, because reading what a reviewer has to say automatically means blindly following it. Right, that's bullcrap. If you read the text and hear what they have to say, you can see where they are coming from. How the hell does that mean I am "blindly following them?" With the occassional exceptions, I find most reviewers to spot on most of the time. Renting still costs money, and that's money that be better off going to something else. I always listen to reviewers on everything. All the time.

What he's trying to say is technically my word is just as good as a reviewrs. hell, maybe you'd even agree with me moreso the the reviewers OPINION. that's all a review is. OPINION. That's why renting is the ONLY way to judge whether or not you like a game.

Ok, I'll go check out Big Rigs :P

[QUOTE="DeathScape666"]If you listen to reviewers, fail? So who are we supposed to listen to? You? I don't have all the money in the world to spend, so yeah, I will listen to reviewers, and not you. Thanks, anyway.pyromaniac223

Eurogamer gave Grand Slam Tennis a 5.

Grand Slam Tennis is an underwhelming representation of tennis, crippled by unintuitive controls, and just makes you want to go back to the precision of Top Spin or Virtua Tennis on a control pad.

[QUOTE="Animal-Mother"] Why, this is how devs screw us over. If we buy these half games at full price, and whatnot whats from the leaving content out of the original game and make a sequel out of ite3isfome56

At the end of the day, i don't care if Left 4 dead is good or bad, cash in or not, it's pathetic to start bycotts and start crying 'EA' and getting worked up over what is just one game ... it's all a bit immature, don't you think?

Aside from the fact that Left 4 Dead 2 could be good - god forbid :o

You're argument is idiotic and stupid, first off the point is not if the game is good or not its that its not like valve to make its users pay for updated content, you obviously are just a console gamer whos used to buying a new guitar hero every 2 months so now you want pc gamers so suffer the same fate. You are not very smart.

You see that game in your avatar buddy? Yeah, Doom - one of my favorite games that, which i played on my favorite platform back in 1993, the PC - but of course you wouldn't of known that, that didn't stop you from making assumptions though apparently. Oh, and i've never even played guitar hero btw.

Aside from you being unnecessarily provocative - since when did i try to make out that it being good or bad was a point.. i just simply said that i'm not not concerned because it's hardly life changing - not something worthy of getting aggressive to other people on an internet forum about it, like you apparently are. Being aggressive doesn't exactly show intellectual rigor on your part - for somebody who's calling other people stupid.

I've acknowledged in this thread in response to animal lover that it's out of character for Valve, but thanks for reminding me of something i already knew anyway ;)

It was metacritic that mattered for Halo Wars - now it's gamespot that matters for E3?

It's taking the principle of being obedient to GS's scores to whole new levels, personally i think MS won, perhaps Sony would of won if they actually had a release date for GT5 for me .. but still, we should judge who won e3 by our own critieria - most megatons, most exclusives, best surprises, best new IP's etc, making GS's word count wont do a lot for lemmings as it's not a conclusive and substansive measurement that will convince anybody - hence it's just a vacous victory for them.

Sony will win because there are more cows than anybody.

Are you joking? Ever since E3 2006 this place has been the reserve of Lemmings.

No Im excited for it and I know nobodys putting a gun to our heads to buy it. But I feel him he's a long time fan of valve and they screwed him over on content and price. Im utterly mad at capcom for having to have me release content thats on a disc. It's all fair. Because at the end of the day this means devs can have a full game, take out half of it then call it a sequel

We don't really know if anybody has been screwed over yet - although it's odd of Valve, a developer who made the Orange Box and the developer who spends years crafting special games like Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2. Oh and yes lol, Capcom can be a little disgraceful at times.. but really, we are in no position to judge yet, certainly not in a position to styart bycotts, spamming the boards with emotional accounts describing trhe extent of the sell out and all this jazz .. not only is it a knee jerk reaction, it's just taking things way too seriously.
