Rare is laying the groundwork for a long game. It won't be hard to add bots, AI ships and land battles to raise the challenge. I'm looking forward to seeing historical pirates or fictional ones from Treasure Island, Black Flag, Pirates of the Caribbean or Monkey Island in random encounters!
Watched the movie last night. It was absurd and cringe-worthy. Where are all the good sci-fi writers? The script read like it was done by someone who flunked high school Physics.
Iron out the kinks and deliver the box, Atari. Don't hype. Don't chase AAA or go against the Big-Three. Focus on variety, uniqueness and depth. Bring us more D&D games while you're at it:)
@Doomerang: Bleszinski's outspokenness has created quite a bit of dissent among the publishers, and his messages to the players are at times inflammatory. You can easily look up his old interviews. I wasn't just referring to CliffyB but also Arjan Brussee.
The Brussee-founded Guerilla Games was surround by controversies like passing off pre-rendered cut scenes as gameplay and misleading resolution claims. Having parted ways with Guerilla, Brussee acted as the executive producer of Visceral's final game, Battlefield Hardline, before the studio's closure. Now he's leaving Boss Key admist LawBreakers' trouble for a "secret project" at Epic, which certainly doesn't look good on the resume with this pattern.
Note that I have nothing against the man; after all, I used to play his Vectordemo endlessly on my 33MHz 386DX.
Been playing Bleszinski and Brussee's games since Jazz Jackrabbit, and I wish LawBreakers received more attention from both the press and the players. Nonetheless, the developers have made some dubious business choices in recent years. Going back to Epic doesn't seem like a good move as their own Paragon is plagued by similar issues.
@erceze: The 3DO, of which I have a Panasonic and two Sanyo's, was an amazing ARM-based device that outshone every PC of the time. We also had a blast with our Amiga's, ST's, FM Towns and X68k's when the PC was still on Ad-Lib and 16-color EGA.
PC fanboys with superiority complex these days are too full of themselves to comprehend the fact that alternative platforms are pro-consumer options and valid entertainment.
