Ataribox Indiegogo Campaign Delayed

Almost revival.

Atari's forthcoming retro rebirth console, the Ataribox, is seeing a delay. The team explains that a missing "key element" is holding back pre-orders on the system.

Back in September, Atari announced the console's crowdfunding campaign would launch in the Fall, with systems shipping out sometime in Spring 2018. In a recent update, Atari explains that the Indiegogo launch, which was supposed to happen on December 14, is temporarily being put on pause.

"Because of one key element on our checklist, it is taking more time to create the platform and ecosystem the Atari community deserve," the statement reads. "Building Ataribox is incredibly important to us and we will do whatever it takes to be sure it is worth the wait."

Atari did not detail what exactly what that "key element" missing is. But we do know that this delay means pre-orders won't happen as soon as predicted, and the final launch date will most likely also be pushed back. Atari will have an updated launch plan soon.
