@danielbirchal: My point is neither one is a true 4K system. 4K is simply too expensive and I will not expect a reliable native 4K at 30 fps until the next generation. I'll stick to my GTX 1080 ti, which is actually reliably 60 fps at 4K.

@danielbirchal: There's currently a shortage of 1070s which is leading to a spike in their actual value. They are on average worth $500 currently when they should be around $350.

The X1X is not the same value, and that card isn't powerful enough for 4K.

I do appreciate these articles, Gamespot, even if some of these games are just bad ports that aren't optimized. That goes for any Ubisoft game (Watch Dogs 2, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Ghost Recon Wildlands) and a few of the others (Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Just Cause 3, Arma 3, Mass Effect Andromeda, Ark). Now, some of these games are legitimately beautiful and graphically demanding.

I would like to see this article edited with AA off, as it's pointless at 4K as the article suggests at the start. To be honest, I'm actually impressed the GTX 1080 performs this well at 4K with these games. I just recently bought a GTX 1080 ti, so I'm really hoping to get, on average, 60 fps at 4K with every game I play.

I'm waiting for the new 4K HDR g sync 144hz monitors to release from Asus and Acer, so I'll be stuck on a Full HD 60hz monitor for the time being with far more fps than I'll ever need.

@alistairbrogan: Even better, get a GTX 1080 ti, turn off AA, and keep everything at max.

@telecaster24: Horizon is a pretty game, but it's hardly the best looking game ever made. It's largely the vibrant use of colors and excellent lighting that cover up ugly low poly textures. The game uses a lot of the same techniques BOTW uses to cover up its low poly textures.

Metro LL, Crysis 3, The Witcher 3, Battlefield 1, etc. would easily crush the game in terms of visuals on a high-end PC running them at max settings.

@tomservo51: It's definitely bad optimization.

@ichigo16: Agreed. It's not that these games are graphically demanding per se. They are just horribly optimized games. That's why we see so many Ubisoft titles on the list, as Ubisoft always has terrible PC ports. Not to mention, having AA on when rendering at 4K is redundant and a huge cost to performance. Had GS turned that off, these numbers would look quite different.

@iknowthepiecesf: You do realize the GTX 1080 ti is significantly more powerful than the GTX 1080, right? Not to mention, GS had AA enabled, which drops performance significantly. Even they admitted there is little point to enabling AA at 4K.

There are plenty of benchmarks of the GTX 1080 ti rendering at 4K and 60 fps. It's the first gpu truly capable of 4K 60 fps gaming. Obviously, the quality of the PC port and optimization always plays a factor in performance.

@finshur: "16gb ram is sub-par on a new pc these days"

I don't know what planet you live on, but 16gb ram is far from "sub-par." In fact, having 16gb ram is largely overkill given many current games still don't even take advantage of 8gb.
