Well, from what I can tell, a game isn't "hardcore" unless you can use a gun or some other non-fictional weapon to kill character that are based on reality (not animated or "cartoony").

supreuph

 That's a dictionary-worthy definition of hardcore. yo made my day

Only that doesn't necessarily make them games worth playing ... I'm looking at you, Madden! 09 was a joke already, but this year seems to be be the straw that breaks the camel's back. This has no longer anythin to do with football, and the few things they "updated" since Madden 2007 for Wii were either incredibly stupid or downright smacking in the face of those who are crazy enough to buy that crap, with the only exception being the "Call your own shot"-stuff.

As for garrett duffman's list, I'm sure like everybody hates at least half of the games you mentioned. With some, obviously, it's quite a stretch to call them games - Is there really anybody that came back and pt Wii Play or Links Crossbow Training a second time in the console?!

So there's stuff being built specifically for the Wii that's not even games. No good news the way I look at it. It maddens me 4 outta 5 devs declare their creative bankruptcy even when not porting games to Wii but "building them from ground up" for it. Like, to give the prime example, all those on rail shooters I so fiercly hate and wish to hell together with the braindeads that made em

even more important to point out what actually is done right or at least seems that way. So here's what I'm looking forward to, that are if not specifically than at least exclusively for Wii:

The Conduit

Monster Hunter 3

Muramasa: Demon Blade

NMH Desperate Struggle

Silent Hill:Shattered Memories

Laughable plot

Frustrating difficulty will alienate newcomers

Doesn't even try to adapt and make use of the Wii

Little to no improvement graphically over its GameCube predecessor.

Sounds like a decent reason to give it a 6.

Durhamster

The first one, ok. but SMG had a laughable plot and was game of the year, wasn't it?

Second, I loved the "frustrating difficulty" (damn noobs). And if I remember correctly, wit most other Nintendo games for Wii they critizised it was to easy.

Third, the graphics where outdated, but that can't take away much from the score with a game like FE, that's just so much not about eye candy

So overall, 6 is as low as I think anyone can rate this game. but than, their review is in no way at least attemping to be representative or an average of how gamers might feel about it or whatever. But why do waste all these words when it's already been said so well:

The review did have some valid points, the game was pretty much a gamecube game that did not take advantage of any Wii technology, nor did it move the franchise forward. However, the game also still had the top-notch gameplay, depth, and balance that the series is known for, and the score did not reflect that at all._BlueDuck_

But than, bad reviews (actually, it's not so much the review than the score, which is a good thin) happen to anybody, don't they? I mean, it's called Gamespot not the freakin Bible...

I hated the Windwaker style. I didn't even bother buying it because I hated the way the graphics looked.

Cone_Zone

You seem to have missed the point of Zelda games.

I don't care what they call the land as long as it's huge and diverse.

This is one of the more sensible posts I have seen on Nintendo and their "lack of games". I mean they have released a lot of top class games this generation and the third party is only starting to catch up recently. People can shout all they want about a lack of "hardcore games" but when it comes down to it Nintendo has released a wide variety of quality games that lots of people enjoy and the people who don't like any of the games are in the clear minority and a lot of times come off as unreasonable. As for the art style for Zelda. Something completely new would be awesome. But anything that shows that they put work into it is more than ok with me whether it be like a TP or WW stylistically.young80s

1) Yes, they have released a heck of a lot of great games the first 1 and a half years after Wiis launch. Every since last summer, nothin (in Europe, that is). Which wouldn't be bad if there where at least anything upcoming announced I'd really look forward to (by Nintendo)

2) Though I'm guessing chances of a Wii-Zelda being announced at E3 are rather slim, I'd obviously love that to happen. speaking of the style: I hope it's not WW (Which really looked awesome, but as so many before me have pointed out, Wind Waker-style should remain Wind Waker-style only). Technically, on the outher hand, some gorgeous Celshade-thing would be nice. Just a new, astonishing style.

[And please don't pin me down to CEL-Shading; I'm anything but a guy interested in technical backgrounds, so maybe there's other shadings or newer versions of cel shading that I right now call cel shading]

I think it is underrated by the fans. But these are the same fans that crucified the Windwaker and now are praising it like its the greatest game ever in the history of gaming.

Imo, Zelda fans are hypocrites.

sonic_spark

Sorry, but I can't help but feel this is somewhat aimed at me. So, if you don't mind...

1) I loved the Wind Waker the first day it came out

2) I never said TP was overrated, I merely wondered whether I'd call the experience on par with WW, OoT, LttP and the first one (so call it off topic if you will). It was still a great game, but somehow with all those Zelda titles they released they have me thinking that Zelda a class of it's own. Really, that uniqueness (is that actually a word?) and creativity in gameplay I've seldom seen. Doesn't mean on my hitlist there's only Zelda than the rest, but it's the only 10-years plus old franchise that never had a letdown (Yes, I love The Adventure Of Link as well, although that's clearly plain nostalgia nowadays).

Speaking of nostalgia, you guys have me feeling really nostalgic right now. So, someone has a link to a "What game thrilled you the most?" Thread? would be awesome. thanks for readin

I think it gets what it deserves. I think it is a great game that lacked some originality.

Excuse me double posting here, but that probably says it best with so few words.

All that prove is that you are biased by nostalgia.

I don't blame you, alot of people are that way but in the end of the day "It blew my mind 11 years ago" is irrelevant because the question is being asked in 2009 and in 2009 the better game is Twilight Princess.

P.S: Before anybody pull the "old school card" on me i also first played Ocarina Of Time in 1998,in fact i still have my gold cartridge of the game.

Stephleref

Well then, Hour of Victory is better than Goldeneye.

I never implied that newer (even when the game is mediocre) is always going to mean better.

But no Goldeneye 007 is not the best FPS ever,FPS have improved alot since 1997.

It's fun to have childhood memory but i like them to stay what they are meant to be...memories.

I still like TMNT IV to this day but i don't act like a lil boy that think it's the best game ever created anymore, some games have clearly improved on the formula.

I don't know ... I get your argument, I give you it's a legitimate one, but still I'm not totally convinced. Sure nostalgia plays a role here with me, but I not from the "OoT will never be topped" faction. In fact, I totally agree a loooot of games that came out ever since are way better (like the Wind Waker). But than, we're probably just using different scales of measurement, like one says "absolute" the other says "relative". To draw the line, I'm unable to agree that game A is better than game B if A is exactly the same game with a few new items / slightly better graphics / a new weapon. Following your logic, if I understood that correctly, I would have to assume it is.

However, you're probably rigt that between OoT and TP, in my "reasoning" nostalgia might be the decisive factor for what I can't decide otherwise.

PS: WindWaker from start to finish was the best Zelda so far ;)

Until the majority realizes that TP one-ups OoT in almost every way, it will always be underrated.Dr_Corndog

I'm not sure whether I understand that correctly, but might it be you guys and girls are ignoring the fact there are 8 years between them? Clocks kept moving since OoT, at least for some of us, so yes, playing them one after another nowadays might have some folks concluding TP's the better game. For people like me, however, who played OoT back in 1998, with all those memories of how the game stunned you in every way, it's (at least for me) just not true that TP is the better game. It sure was a heck of a game nonetheless. No doubt bout that.
