Amusing set of comments, as usual.

Killzone 2 on PS3 does look good, the original on PS2 was a decent game, if rather hard. Otherwise, I'm not a massive fan of Japanese RPGs, and many of the other upcoming/recently released games are sequels of games I didn't really enjoy the first time round. I'm also a fan of driving games, but there is literally nothing on PS3 at the moment to get me excited, although I'm sure that will change once GT5 proper comes out. The Christmas catalogue on 360 though was relatively strong, and I am missing not being able to play Gears 2 or Fable 2.

I'm in the UK so don't benefit from the full extent of MS or Sony's online services. I can only then compare the UK services between the two systems and I think that Live generally offers more, particularly since NXE, and makes it worth the £40 a year, imo. I think the 360 Arcade catalogue tops that on offer on PSN, particularly when it comes to original titles, I was loving Braid before the RROD. I can otherwise take or leave the old console ports, I've still got a couple of what are probably now called "retro" machines, so would rather play Street Fighter 2 on the SNES, for instance.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing LBP but I just don't think its the halo game for the PS3 that many want it to be. Ok, I don't have a huge amount of time on my hands to be able to get in to the level creation side of it, so perhaps I'm missing the point?

I probably have got a duff DS3 controller so will take it back to the shop. I agree though that the 360 build quality is a joke and its my main concern about going back to MS. My first two machines were early ones but were fortunately replaced by the store I bought them from, so I didn't have to get involved in the repair process myself. The third machine otherwise lasted about 18 months before it broke, and I then got the PS3.

Will keep the PS3 then, not least because the local stores are only offering £140 trade-in on a 3 month old 80Gb, and will see if I can't otherwise resurrect the broken 360 thats still sat in my living room, so I can get the best of both worlds.

I bought a PS3 back in October after my third 360 got the RROD, but I'm beginning to wonder whether I made the right decision...

The more stuff I play, and the more I generally read about the PS3, a lot of things are starting to frustrate me:

1. The lack of 1080p support on many games, even when 360 versions have it - I thought the PS3 was technically superior?

2. PSN - do they ever release anything decent over it? The only good thing so far seems to have been GTi Club.

3. The general online experience - I know its free, but I'd rather not wait half an hour to download a 20Mb update. £40 for Live is a bargain by comparison.

4. Having to install some games to the hard drive - its a console, not a PC. I'll chose what I store thanks.

5. Home - what a complete load of crap, mostly middle-age men masquerading as teenage girls...

6. Shoddy build quality of the controllers - I've got the Dualshock 3s, and one has broken already.

7. LittleBigPlanet - it really isn't all that, nor are there any truly decent exclusives on the horizon.

8. No DLC on big games - why aren't Sony getting in on the act? I can take or leave the GTA stuff, but no Fallout 3 DLC is a crime.

I could probably go on. Ok, the Blu-Ray capability is a bonus, but you can buy a standalone player for less than £200 these days, meaning you're not exactly saving money there either.

It seems to me that it all adds up to there actually being not a lot to really commend the PS3 at present, particularly since the NXE revamp a little while ago.

Might see about putting the PS3 in the classifieds and returning back to the 360...

No, but I'm planning to when it comes out (in the UK) on Friday.

The PS3, I must admit, is lacking somewhat in quality driving games, but this should help the cause.

No hard drive, it was bought to be used more like a console, which is also why I didn't get one of the high-end Amigas. I did take some pride in the games I bought for it over recent years and I think its a decent collection, although there's still plenty more that I'd get. Maybe I will keep it...

Cheers for the input though guys, it sounds like there would be better value in splitting some, if not all of the games and selling separately. To be honest, I'm not really an eBay lover. Its so awash with crap these days that it'll get lost and end up selling for peanuts, unless I then set a high reserve, which'll make it even less attractive.

Does anyone know of any good UK-based retro dealer/collector websites?

I've been having a clear out at home and selling some stuff I don't use any more, and came across my old Amiga. I really haven't played it for ages now, so might get rid, but not sure if its worth anything...

The "package" is basically an Amiga A600 (decent condition), 2 Zipstiks, mouse, PSU, tv lead and a Workbench disk with the manual (no original box though). I've then got a few games for it...

Monkey Island, Flashback, Test Drive 2, Kick Off 2, Skidmarks, Moonwalker(!), Indy & The Last Crusade, Speedball 2, Stunt Car Racer, Grand Prix 2, Syndicate, Road Rash and Desert Strike.

Not a bad mix I reckon, most of them are Amiga classics. All the games are good condition and boxed with manuals, most are also the original release "big box" versions.

Is that lot likely to be worth anything? I don't expect to get hundreds of pounds, but then I don't want to give it away at the wrong price either.

Any thoughts?

Seriously?! Are you playing it in high def?

It looks better than ever to me. Ok, it'll still be a long time coming before playing Fifa looks the same as watching Sky Sports or whatever, but its now much more realistic in my opinion. The players have lost that horrible plasticky/sweaty look that they had in 08, so its all good as far as I'm concerned.

I must admit that I've not played PES09 (I didn't think it was out in the UK yet?) but then have I've compared it to Fifa 09 either. My personal experience of the next-gen versions of Pro Evo haven't been great and in that respect, Fifa, especially 09, is the better game.

On its own, Fifa is a superb game, and its simulation of the game of football (what matters) is much, much better than previous incarnations and I dare say it also compares favourably against Pro Evo too. I'll reserve my outright Fifa 09 v. PES09 judgement until I've played both games at any great length, although Fifa has set a high benchmark.

I will just say though that its a good indication of the relative standing of both games that its Konami now copying EA's features... Become A Legend mode? Please...

I had been giving this some thought myself recently, having decided to buy a PS3 instead of replacing yet another broken 360. To be honest, there's not a lot on the PS3 horizon that truly excites me, but then nor is there on the 360. Ok, Gears 2 is out soon, but I quickly got bored of the first one anyway.

I'd echo what's said above in that genuinely decent, 1st party exclusives are a pretty rare thing nowadays, and developers will generally want to capitalise on the largest available market, meaning more and more former exclusives coming out on both next-gen formats. It certainly worked for Rockstar in releasing GTAIV on the 360.

As a result, I'd say that switching seems a bit pointless unless there are any exclusive 360 games on the way that you really can't do without (I can't think of any). Add in the Blu-Ray capability and the fact the BD moves are now borderline affordable, and I'd stick with the Sony.

I'd agree, Fifa 09 really is a class act this time round, the gameplay is much better than 08, and the demo really doesn't do it justice.

Without wanting to (re)start the good old Fifa v. Pro Evo debate, Fifa has been The King on the next-gen consoles. I'm not disputing that, if you rewind 5 years or so, Pro Evo on the PS2 wiped the floor with Fifa, but its very much the other way round now. I reckon its now as it should have always been all along, a football game with the gameplay of Pro Evo and all the licenses and presentation of Fifa, its just its EA that has made it, not Konami as might have been expected...

That said, there are quite a lot of bugs and glitches in it, it was clearly rushed to market just to get a couple of extra weeks sales over PES, so hopefully there'll be a patch available soon. Also, they've could've done more to enhance some parts of the game over 08, I play a lot of the Manager mode for instance, and its basically exactly the same as last year's offering. Its not a bad thing as such, but you do feel a bit short-changed.

Still, stuff like the Adidas Live Season is cool, and there's the usual raft of quality online leagues and options. I've noticed the online play to lag a bit more than 08 used to, but it always takes a little while to iron out the online kinks of any new game.

I've not got into Be A Pro yet though. I absolutely love it on NHL 09, but I just don't really get on with it in Fifa for some reason.

As above, should I be excited by this?!

I must admit, I've only very recently bought a PS3 (after my 3rd 360 in as many years suffered the RROD) so I'm a little bit out of touch with what's on the way.

This game seems to be very big news, but I've read various previews and stuff and must say that I'm not really getting it. It certainly looks good, but isn't it ultimately just a platformer? I appreciate that there's a big online/social element to this game, but that doesn't really appeal to me a great deal.

Forgive me for asking then, but what's all the fuss about?
