@phoenixca Yea it looks quite awesome, it's disappointing that I've got to stand by my beliefs and not support the company while they continue their current DRM trends though. Ah well, us gamers got to take a stand against this trashy DRM at some point, at least console users get to enjoy DRM free.
Blasphemy! When I play a MSG game I expect there to be a lengthy intro section and some long, sometimes outrageously so, cutscenes. They're usually top notch and can always be skipped so I don't want this tinkered with, I'm sure most MGS fans would agree.
New word added to vocabulary: Ephemeral, thanks Brendan, I like that one! Good show guys, I've only seen a few episodes but I find this segment interesting and informative, keep it up!
This seems like an unusually detailed review from Gamespot, great weight on both the pros and cons, overall very concise and to the point, great stuff! It's a shame to see they really phoned this one in though, seems to be really lacking in content... specifically the number of levels, and no split-screen, why oh why?
Oh an the loss of Michael Ironside hits me with a real sour note. Going to be hard to convince me to buy this... and I would imagine the same for many log time SC fans.
I like to keep optimistic about this upcomming Splinter Cell title but when the trailer is used to promote Sam Fisher jumping through hails of bullets, using that same unlikable tag mechanic from Conviction, and calling in freakin' air strikes.... I start to become concerned! I always thought Splinter Cell was a "Stealth-Action" game, not an "Action-Adventure", but that's clearly changed, which is a shame because I really love stealth games and they're quite rare these days :( Ah well, Hitman will hopefully stick to it's roots!
@PaulJanson Yea really though, media outlets of all types are always decrying the state of violence in video games. Meanwhile they fail to mention such games as Harvest Moon where your prime goal is to raise a productive farm and find a girlfriend, or puzzle games like Portal, what about the hoards of trading card games and racing games and very un-violent strategies?
More praise for BF:BC2 sound here (not to mention epic gameplay as well). I've got a pair of Turtle Beach headphones and the game sounds incredible. What I really like is how much you can actually hear your own movements, It makes it much harder to hear people coming up behind you, very realistic. It seems in other games people move silently other than loud clomping footsteps. In this game you hear everything from a convincing jingle of equipment to the rustle of your clothing, and subtle noises as you raise your rifle to look down sight, it's all great in adding to the atmosphere
