[QUOTE="oldvander"][QUOTE="Zeliard9"]I literally remember people saying that PC gaming was dying in the mid-90s, when the Playstation and N64 came about.I'm sure they probably said it earlier, too. If it hasn't died off in the past decade plus, then it's probably not going to.
Valve just needs to release Counterstrike 2 and it'll become uber-trendy to start PC gaming again, like it was around the start of this century with CS, and we don't have to hear anymore of this "PC gaming is dying" rubbish. Counterstrike on PC deserves just as much credit as Halo: CE for introducing so many newbies to so-called "hardcore" gaming and making gaming as popular as it is today. And probably more, since it precedes Halo by a couple years.

Um, sorry, but counter strike online isn't trendy in the real world. Its looked down upon as extremely nerdy by alot of people i know. I dont say anything bad about it, but its certainly not trendy to people.
Not now, but back around 2000/2001, it was ridiculously trendy to play CS. They even had the game set up at various boutiques in malls just so random people could play.
It easily achieved Halo-level popularity and transcended "nerdiness"; anybody and everybody was playing it. And after 9/11 it became even more popular, since it had to do with terrorism and counter-terrorism.
I don't personally like CS, or Halo. I think both are tragically overrated and come nowhere even remotely close to a gem like Quake 1. But there's no question that both are enormously popular, CS moreso back in the day.
The problem is popular and trendy are surely 2 different things. Counter strike was definitely a popluar game, and still is to gamers. But if you went into a school and asked them what they thought of counter strike, they'd laugh at you for being a "geek". Which means its not trendy unfortunately.
