Hi McVitas! Great video link! I did not know these guys had created such a big setup for robo rally! I did not find Battle Isles that complex to understand. But again you might want to use different games nowadays... I mean Advanced Wars (or dual strike or days or ruin or any of the follow ups) has kind of the same gameplay, although you only build units (not really robots). The Final Liberation I was referring to is indeed the Warhammer one - it looks deceptively ugly. ;) You are also getting me to discover Gary's Mod Tanks... Funny idea! Well it has a Minecraft feel attached to it but I still like it. I wish indeed you could take these tanks to do something out there. By the way, I recently stumbled upon some indie projects on kickstarter that could be worth tracking: - M.O.R.E. is a 4x exploration game where you will be able to design your ships by assembling them piece by piece. There is their kickstarter (already successful, no need to add money) page: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1447560584/more-oldschool-turn-based-4x-space-strategy-game?ref=category - Sykjacker: starship constructor: looks like a space ship editor that lets you raid capital ships after you built them... http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/digitilus/skyjacker-starship-constructor?ref=live Of course these games are still months (if not years) away... Well, so I guess I don't have a good answer to your request. Or you could start building a team and set out to create the game you want? ;)

If you want a big list, look for SRPG or turn-based strategy games in Wikipedia. My favourites with very close to the same formula as Path of Radiance are: - Fire Emblem's on the GBA (and one on the SD, and one on the Wii), of course. ;) - Final Fantas Tactics Advance (the initial one and its follow-up, Grim Grimoire). I cannot recommend final Fantasy Tactics because its user interface and slow pace make me cry out loud every time I retry it... - Super Robot Wars / Super Robot Taisen series!!! 2 came outise of Japan (i.e. in English), called "Original Generations" 1 & 2 on the GBA. really good stuff! - Advance Wars is pretty good too, though the story is usually not as immersive for me as Fire emblem was. And the units are "generic" units that you can produce in series (although it is still a very good game). - Zone of the enders, the fist of mars (on the BGA still): has very good humour while being just a little bit lighter on the tactics side (though still a turn-based strategy game alright!) - Yggdra Union is very different in terms of game mechanics, but gives me almost the same kick as Fire Emblems. - Front Mission rocks too, if you like customizing your robots in a near future setting. - Luminous Arc (more in the style of FFTA) Hey - are you not already going to the shop to get a DS that can play GBA games? ;)

1 - Fire Emblem (the 7th entry in the series, but the first to be translated), because it really got me into TBS games that much with its story. ;) although I agree path of Radiance is the best executed Fire emblem ever. If i was allowed more choices... 2 - Panzer General. Oh my, did I play this game!!! Rugged deense! 3 - Final Liberation: it does not look like much, but it was fun. and no new Warhammer turn based game has reached its level of excellence, despise a lot of investment in the graphics department. And since you can play the Orcs... Waaaarg! 4 - Zone of the Enders: The Fist of Mars (on the GBA) is a game I really enjoyed too! It is a little more on the simplistic side of the equation, but I liked the story and the humour that is overall present. 5 - Super Robot Wars - Original Generations (on the GBA still). Man, it's got giant robots, heroes, a great story that you already partly know of and anime style - do I really need to say more? ;)

Hello, Your title had me interested... but well ok, no one answered. So I guess I will give it my 3 cents, although I am not sure I fully understand what you are looking for. I am not aware of a recent game that would really fit your need, although I would love to play such a game. Reading your post makes me think of: - Robo Rally, a tabletop game where you did indeed program the moves of your robots simultaneously with other players and they got resolved (with bumps pushing you off course etc). There is bound to be some kind of video game adaptatio of this, I am sure.Frozen Synapse sort of uses the same idea for gameplay. - Should I assume you planed good-ol' Battle Isle (PC) and the Advance Wars (GBA and DS) series? - Same thing for the Front Mission (PS/PS2) series? - I could not really find a satisfying Battletech-related game where you build your mech and strategize with it. MechWarrior Tactics is still being developed, as I last heard, and looks promising! - Not exactly robots, but... I can't help but be reminded of the fun I had playing Final Liberation. Its looks are indeed not so great compared to nowadays games, but I am sure it is very worth playing, still. ;) Hope that helps you go by!

Depending on how your experience with FFTA2 goes, if you get hooked to the turn-based strategy combats, there are quite a few more games you could try on the DS! Just to get you started, you could look at Fire Emblem (although the GBA Fire Emblem was even better in my view). And if you dive into GBA nostalgia, don't forget to try Yggdra Union and Riviera: the promised land. Both games show other unique RPG mechanics.

Is there a chance of some talented people picking up hardware design to allow the self-creation of PS2's after its production is disrupted in all regions? There has been a trend to have a lot of DIY hardware this year (ex: MakerBot's Replicator, and its CPU, the Arduino), so why not extend this to the PS2? Anyone interested? ;) I am sure a team picking that idea up would have a great fan base.

I doesn't have any games....

.....that aren't watered down versions of PC/console games.

Why would I buy a vita when I can get a better or cheaper experience elsewhere?

MakeMeaSammitch
Same here: - The Vita does not have a lot of good games. It may have some, and more games than at launch, but I personnally do not see more than 1 title I could be interested in for that platform. And since it is not a series I am so fond of I would buy a new platform for it... - The Vita does not have a feature that distinguishes it significantly from its competitors. It is a good tech value all around, but its touch screen does not diffierentiate it from smartphones & tablets. The dual analog sticks are not something I would use in my favourite handheld games anyways, so I am not sensitive to that. The rest of the points made here matter, but only the 2 points above would make or break a purchase for me. So l basically, I could buy a Vita later down the road if the games library comes to encompass games I like. the problem is: I have a PSP, so I would only care about new games since the PSP. So probably to be reviewed in 2 years time...

in terms of ergonomic placement and overall design the 360 annihilates the PS3 for a few reasons.

The DS3 is primarily designed for people with smaller hands cleaarly ones in the lower percentile range of the 5th to 95th making the ones closer to the 95th percentile think its uncomfortable as Sony has more than likely based it around data gathered within Japan or just following the pad design from the 90's without making it any different except some tech inside of the controller.

Just thought i'd point that out, i've got above average sized hands and i find the DS3 more uncomfortable especially the analogue placement being parralel and not offset.

Interesting thought! I have had both the PS3 and the 360 controllers in hands and they were ok for me. But I have smaller-than-average hands, so that could indeed explain.

Hi there, Any chance someone could tell me about grips for DS? I mean there were great grips for GBA like this. Do we have the same for the DS? ('cause the DS does feel soar after a couple of hours play.) Thanks!
