@Deedubau: I have my doubts on that, given that's not really Nintendo's MO for third-party titles, but you never know. I haven't bought it for Switch yet because I have the PC version and lately I just travel to work(where I am lucky enough to be able to play on my laptop, when I have free time) but I do fully intend on buying it for Switch because it ranks right up there with Dead Cells in terms of a great roughlike for me

@andrewsqual: you have not been paying attention, clearly. See Phil is very much playing the long game. See consoles have never been a profit driver when it comes to units shipped, even this generation. The true money maker has always been in software. Unlike Sony, MS makes money on PC gaming in multiple ways, both from Windows OS purchases as well as selling games on PC as well Xbox. Why do you think the windows version of Gamepass carries the Xbox branding? It's not laziness. Phil came into his current position knowing that Xbox had lost this generations console war, so rather than try to continue fighting a losing battle in shipping hardware, he changed the rules of engagement. You talk about games on PC, if it's on Windows, it's still a win for Microsoft

@couly: it's not that's it's bad, per se(except Skin of Evil was hot garbage and not just because of what happened to Tasha), it's that it leaned too much on TOS.

@kevinjwong, do watch encounter at farpoint and the naked now in Season 1, as they do introduce important characters and plot elements that come up in later seasons. And I suppose Skin of Evil too, it's a shit episode but does have an important event

@Barighm: eh. Your partially right. I have to preface this next part: I work for MS in one of their Datacenters and can speak to the hardware, to an extent.

The biggest benefit is the sheer amount of infrastructure available for a streaming service. Sure AWS is huge, but outside of their massive presence on the East Coast, I don't know how spread out their datacenters are, which is important, since latency can be a streaming service killer. I know that MS is very spread out, as is Google.

Then there is the question of platform flexibility. If the cloud platform isn't flexible enough then it hinders service development and deployment. Hardware isn't really going to be an issue, because all of the big players are constantly upgrading the hardware.

It would make sense since Nvidia, Nintendo and id Software are all a part of Khronos Group in some form or another, and we already know that id Tech Engine 6 supports Vulkan, which both Doom and Wolfenstein The New Colossus both run on

@lodmot347: lower your expectations some. Q: Nintendo has already said that Metroid Prime 4 is in early development. I'm not expecting anything until Pax next year. 2: Nintendo has already confirmed plans for a full Pokémon game for Switch, but to expect anything on it with Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon on the way is putting the cart before the horse as it is likely in just the planning stages at best. 3: ultimately irrelevant on a console. Game first, fluff third. 4: talk to Sega especially since it's multi-plat. 5: see 2 6: very unlikely at this juncture and would likely require a complete OS overhaul to properly support since it seems to not have been built with such a thing in mind
