This is one of those reviews where the actual written text leaves me with a more positive impression than the final overall score.

Not that a seven is bad by any means, but the actual written text paints the picture of a game that the reviewer enjoyed a bit more than that. I came away with a game that they enjoyed a lot but had a few quibbles with.

As someone who has fond memories of the original Shadowgate, I'll probably check this out at some point.

An awful lot of commenters are missing the point here. The point that those commenters unhappy about people complaining about the lack of female playable characters is missing is this one here:

"According to a study by the Entertainment Software Association, out of 1.2 billion gamers worldwide 48 percent are female and 52 percent are male"

It's just good business to add female playable characters these days given nearly half of all gamers are female. I get that a lot of people in this comments section feel that this is "political correctness being shoved in their faves" but it's actually just about half the market stating what they want the industry to improve upon in order to spend their money.

I'm cautiously optimistic about DAI, but will not be preordering it. Bioware (EA) has lost the "preorder without thinking about it" status that they used to have with me.

They don't have my unquestioned trust anymore like CD Projekt now does. I'll likely wait and get the "Ultimate" edition on Steam.

Correction, it was VERY lackluster. Nothing there that will change anyone's minds. If you liked the XB1 before, you still will. If you didn't, you won't now. Nothing really that new or exciting.

Kinect in it's current incarnation is completely dead. It's had basically four years to come out with a single game that people point to and say, "That's it! That's what makes this a revolutionary piece of technology that we have to have!" It hasn't happened.

And it isn't exclusive to Kinect. All three of the big-three pimped motion control to no end the last few years. Recent E3's have been damned depressing the way everyone's been going after the casuals.

I have hopes that this E3 we will, at last, have one that is focused on the core gamer after basically ignoring us for years. We know Microsoft at least will. Every word out of Phil Spencer's mouth these days is basically, "We're so VERY SORRY. Please forgive us. We love you core gamers. Give us another chance!"

Wow. Way to encourage third party development on your platform Sony. If you don't think the economics work out and openly say so, why on earth should any other company?

Witcher 3

Dark Souls 2

Persona 5

Give me these three games in pure form (as in, like their predecessors have been and not changed to much by adding things like kinect or whatever that doesn't need to be there) and I'm happy.

Question: Who could have predicted that the vast majority of the release games for BOTH the PS4 and the Xbone would suck?

Answer: Anyone who's ever seen a console launch before and wasn't blinded by rooting interests in a particular console.
