Valkyria Chronicles 2 is selling well. We might see the next one hit PS3 if we're lucky. :)

Regardless of the success of this game, the next game in the series will appear on the PS3. Here is the reason why the developer decided to release Valkryia Chronicles 2 on the PSP instead of the PSP:

First off, the staff [i.e. the developer] wanted to get out a sequel without too much of a gap. It took about three years to make the original. Even when considering their increased knowhow and base of resources for making the sequel, they'd still have to make improvements, which could increase development time. The anime had just hit, and they wanted to release a new title before it was forgotten.

The second reason. . .is that the staff wanted to increase exposure for the series. They conducted surveys of players of the original and found that the game was reaching a higher than expected age group and a male audience of an amazing 95%! In order to continue and expand the series beyond this aging [male demographic], they needed to keep the fans of the original while also bringing in new fans. On the PSP, they would be able to show the game's charms to more people.

This may not necessarily be the end for the Valkyria Chronicles series on PS3. "My personal ideal vision is to develop Valkyria Chronicles on both PSP and PS3. We definitely want to make games on the high end PS3 as well." (chief producer's words)

I had to wonder what does "sellthrough" means. Does it mean the percentage of available stock sold?

Anyway, as long as New Super Mario Bros. Wii continues to maintain solid sales, it will eventually be able to reach four million copies in Japan.

It is quite surprise to see Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G return to the Top 10, but this is due to its recent price-cut.

Next week's sale chart will be interesting as several high-profile titles (End of Eternity, Dragon Quest VI, etc.) will go on sale this Thursday in Japan.

Why this is a wii exclusive is beyond me. Oh well, I'll just wait for the emu. ;)

It is not Wii-exclusive. There is an arcade version that was released around the same time as the original Wii version was released.

Anyway, it is always sad that people lose their jobs regardless of the business decisions they are their employers make.

Unfortunately, the denizens here are more concerned with scores than the actual reviews.

I personally had read some of EDGE's reviews and I feel that they are not informative. In fact, none of its reviews ever explain what the games are about, and I see GameSpot and Gametrailers.com doing a better job than EDGE on that.

428 is a name of a visual novel game that was released on the Wii in late 2008. It was the second Wii game to receive a 40/40 score from Famitsu.

The fact that it is the only game listed in the budget lineup that received a "platinum" medal shows that it was well-received by gamers, even though as a "hidden gem" title it sold less than 30,000 copies in Japan.

Ultima IX. The game had technical problems like bugs, and it ruined the finale of a then-respectable series. Its poor sales brought the end of Origin Systems several years latter, but gave people a reason to dislike Electronic Arts.
