Ninja didn't exist historically. They are a modern creation (around the 1960s). Ubisoft have kept to historic facts, like the Assassins and Borgia, who did exist. They would have to be a Japanese assassins cult, but not ninja.

Cause the new one will top out at $1000 in Australia (similar price elsewhere?) and not many will buy it until it comes down in price...at least I won't, even for a pirate game.

Not quite. This is Connors grandfather so it will be early 1700s when the British were exploiting African slaves for sugar in the West Indies building their empire. No doubt there will be an American twang to it, but as colonies of the British. Privateers had royal backing at times so maybe they'll swing this to England and the royal family? Lots of ships and lots of parrots on shoulders. The French will be there, maybe the Spanish too, and the odd Native American being exploited by the colonists but being happy to talk of 'freedom' as Connor crapped on about ad nauseam.

Pirates of the Assassin's Creed and no doubt stuck in the Americas again...probably the Caribbean with the British Empire AGAIN as the evil Templars. Great. There better be slaves in this game, and sugar. Lots of sugar. I can only hope Michael Bolton sings a song for this.

I remember Game and Watch Nintendo games coming out around 1982-1984. Today, those units sell at upwards of $300-600+. Nostalgia helps push up the price for Gen-X's. But those are stand alone games. Not sure if anyone else has posted a similar comment, but to keep these collector's editions probably means having the PS3 or Xbox still in working order 20 years from now. There are Atari 2600s out there etc but my point is: a game without a console to play on means the collectors edition is just a map, CD, and figurine. Probably not much point in having just those sitting around. But I'm sure in 20 years there will be some who wouldn't mind buying a reminder of their younger days. Collecting anything is always a risk regarding value in years to come.

Not Japan Ubisoft. Your historical research has been good so far so, so you will know that ninja DID NOT EXIST! They are a modern fabrication. What ever the setting I can only hope it isn't anything the fans want because AC was so unique it got me sucked right in. Adopting popular fan ideas takes the surprise out of it for me, although I do expect it to head to Asia at some point.

If it isn't in the Crusades then it isn't a Templar/Assassins game. AC:USA pushed the game too far and was for me past it's use-by date. Enough Ubisoft! You got Far Cry 3 right so move on!

However, Ubisoft clearly won't let this die. As the Templars were meant to take over the world, and America was never 'the world' as much as any American would like to believe, going to Asia or Africa is all they can do really. The true beauty of AC was the Middle East during the crusades when assassins became who they are known to be today. The Crusades offer a lot of scope. Given assassinations are ageless, then historically any culture is a starting point. China has dynasties beyond the Han to Shang and earlier but no Templars. The Middle East has Babylon etc, Egypt and the Scorpion King (been there with The Rock). All other suggestions have been sourced in one form or another so it will need to be historic, but off the radar as AC was when first released.

And isn't it time to stop attacking the British colonisers? India was under Mogul (Muslim) rule that oppressed the indigenous Hindus so perhaps use that as buyer bait. Personally, and I'm not English, I'm tired of British=evil.

Oh, no point in 65 million BC. Humans weren't around then so it would be just another alien game....with dinosaurs.

I expect the writers of I Am Legend to be sued by the writers of Omega Man then. And on it goes as all were adopted from an original novel. ND have done no more than continue a theme that is very old. The world went apocolypic during the Black Death and was meant to end in 1000A.D. with panic across Europe. It's an old story of destruction, zombies, human survivors etc.

Agree with Virtual_Erkan. Funny that Kratos gets a gig as a violent character. Spartans were paedophiles taking young boys as 'lovers', abusing them, encouraging them to kill each other and the indigenous Helots, before sending them on campaigns against anyone they didn't like. Now they are glorified. Santa Monica Studios missed that part in God of War, but I loved the game.

If you want a threat of violence that controls people's behaviour (re: Papo & Yo) then look no further than any Bible, Talmud or Koran. Religious and historical books are chockers with horrible acts of violence. Games simply don't make violent people or people violent. The disposition to violence comes from other factors (enviornment, upbringing, psychology etc) but may only find an outlet in a game.

Not another comparison review?!! Seriously Gamespot, give the price comparison between the consoles and PC (guarantee the PC is up around $4000.00+). Given Xbox is Microsoft, and therefore PC, there is only one other console in the PS3, and both Xbox and Playstation are upgrading their units. Currently both consoles are old technology compared to a PC, so review games on PC technology 2-3 years old, or don't bother because a new PC is always better graphic wise.

Personally I could buy years of games with the cost of PC game rig, so bugger that idea.
